Charlie is 17 years old. He has a passion in economics, and intends to study it at university. He is more specifically interested in environmental and behavioural economics. He also loves to play hockey.

Having just completed his stint as Head Boy at Reigate Grammar School, Charlie will be shortly off to uni. Charlie has a range of interests, though most of his enthusiasms revolve around sport - particularly rugby- and psychology. Charlie is eager to pursue Psychology as a career as he is fascinated by the psychology of our political choices.

My name is Dahlia, I’m 14 years old and my nationalities are British and Syrian. One of my biggest passions is Syria and spreading truth of its beauty. Personally I think it is misunderstood due to the war which has caused people to wrongly see Syria as wrecked, damaged and unfixable- However I believe it can be fixed and its original beauty restored.

Fazeeha is 14 and interested in humanities, in particular theology & philosophy and history. When she is older, she hopes to be a lawyer to ‘fight inequality and injustice’.

Felicity is 17 years old. She finds it ‘extremely interesting to look into the deeper psychology of what appear to be surface level decisions that we make on a day to day basis’. She hopes to explore things like this later in life.

She’s very excited to give a TEDxyouth talk, hoping it will help prepare her for her year in industry with Bayer, demonstrating scientific concepts to students from across the UK. James Skarratts

Mr Skarratts believes, contrary to popular opinion, that Mandarin is not actually a difficult language – in fact, he ditched Spanish at 17 because Mandarin was easier! Mr Skarratts lived and worked in China for several years before returning to the UK last year. When he is not writing and performing music, James teaches Mandarin. Tonight he shares his insights with us and will be teaching us some radical ideas about learning Mandarin.
Jayne Byrne

Jayne is a psychology teacher at RGS and graduated the University of York with my BSc in Psychology in 2018. Her favourite TED talk is Elizabeth Loftus’ ‘How reliable is your memory?’ Talk on cognitive psychology and eye witness testimony. Her interest in psychology is broad but she is particularly drawn to neuroscience and psycholinguistics. One day she intends to go back to university to complete a masters degree in linguistics.
Lucy Bushell

Lucy wants to pursue a career in architecture and hopes one day to travel and learn and design with different communities across the globe. She is interested in the effects of environments on people (psychogeography) and generally how architecture affects our lives.
Matt Lowe

Having left RGS in 97, Matt went on to read Biology up in Leeds before starting his first role in the pharmaceutical industry. Having spent over a decade in Pharma he was approached to head up Digital operations at a global network agency and In 2015 he launched the industry’s first specialist SEO agency, Search Unlimited.
Since then Matt has been responsible for a number of Global firsts. He now assumes the role of founder and CEO at performance.io, with offices in the US, Europe and India, he is a Board member at the PeaceLove Foundation, who help children and adults in prisons and schools with neurodiversity challenges to express themselves through creativity and is co-founder at Artmatr, a company originating out of the Media Lab at MIT, who are developing technologies that sit at the nexus of art, engineering and robotics.

I am fascinated by history and in particular military and political history. I also love drama and have appeared in many theatre productions and public speaking events. When I'm older, I hope to find a career that encompasses all of my passions.

Ved is a former RGS student, and the founder of Lotus Nine, a Gen Z consultancy fuelled by reverse mentoring. He organised the UK's first virtual high-school Model United Nations conference and previously grew an Instagram brand to over 100,000 followers. He is also the founder & host of The Exploratory Journey, a podcast exploring the evolving nature of work, business and society. With experience in working in startups, Ved is passionate about technology & innovation and motivated by making a positive impact in the world.
