In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andrea Siegel

Dr. Andrea Siegel has curated the Foundation Art Collection at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey, for over 10 years. Prior to that, she worked as Assistant to the Director of the Allan Stone Gallery in New York City, while earning a Ph.D. in Sociology at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center. She also earned Certification in Fine and Decorative Art Appraisal at Pratt Institute in New York. In addition to her work at Hudson County Community College, she also teaches Sociology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY), and is the author of many books and articles. Chris Dyer

As an author and recognized performance expert, Chris Dyer has given numerous televised interviews, namely on NBC and BBC, and his work has been published in major publications, including The Telegraph, Management Today, Forbes, and Inc. His clients include Citibank, Century 21, Red Roof Inns, Applegate, Honda, and Mitsubishi. In his talk, “Why Failure Doesn’t Suck: How Getting Stuck on a Zipline Taught Me the Difference Between Mistakes and Errors,” Chris outlines how to transform the way we see failure and utilize it as a tool for personal growth and progress.

Deepa Purushothaman

Deepa is the author of The First, The Few, The Only: How Women of Color Redefine Power in Corporate America which will be published by Harper Business in March 2022. She interviewed over 500 senior WOC leaders and her book centers their needs and experiences. She is also the co-founder of nFormation which provides brave, safe, new space for professional women of color and she is a Women and Public Policy Program Leader in Practice at the Harvard Kennedy School. Prior to this, Deepa spent more than twenty years at Deloitte and was “a first” Indian American woman to make partner in the company’s history. She served as a National Managing Partner of Inclusion and was also the US Managing Partner of WIN (Women’s Initiative), Deloitte’s renowned program to recruit, retain, and advance women. Deepa has degrees from Wellesley College, Harvard Kennedy School, and the London School of Economics. She is as Aspen Fellow. Deepa speaks extensively on women and leadership.

Jann Freed

Jann Freed, the former Mark and Kay De Cook Endowed Chair in Leadership and Character Development at Central College in Iowa, transitioned to become a senior consultant with the organizational development firm, The Genysys Group. Specializing in strategic planning, she helps business leaders improve employee engagement, navigate change management, and develop leadership skills. Understanding the importance of personal legacy, Jann focuses on helping employees over fifty years of age find meaning and purpose beyond their careers by utilizing a concept that she developed called the Breadcrumb Legacy. ™ Dr. Freed is the author or co-author of five books, including her recent best-seller, “Leading with Wisdom: Sage Advice from 100 Experts,” featuring interviews from prominent leadership gurus such as Jim Autry, Marshall Goldsmith, and Sally Helgeson. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa and an experienced keynote speaker who has been published in numerous academic journals and periodicals, including Sage and Project MUSE. Jann also hosts the podcast, “Becoming a Sage,” where she interviews notable thought leaders in the field of conscious aging.

Joe Sprangel

Joe Sprangel unknowingly first experienced the prison-industrial complex as a machine repairman sent to the local prison to work on a stamping press that produced license plates. Many years later, he was disappointed to learn that the current form of punishment is an exception to the 13th US Constitution amendment that otherwise abolished slavery, ultimately allowing a dehumanizing version of slavery to exist.

Julia Pimsleur

ulia is a certified NLP master practitioner coach and the host of two business podcasts, CEO Check-In and the Million Dollar Mind. After discovering that fewer than 3% of female entrepreneurs reach $1 million and less than 2% of venture capital is invested in female founders, she became passionate about changing those statistics. She launched her social venture, Million Dollar Women (MDW), to help female entrepreneurs grow their businesses, focusing on a simple mission: help one million women get to one million in revenue. Julia created the annual Million Dollar Women Summit for entrepreneurs, and established the nonprofit arm, The Million Dollar Women Fund, to provide scholarships to women of color entrepreneurs. Her book, "Million Dollar Women: The Essential Guide for Female Founders Who Want to Go Big," was the winner of the Axiom Business Book Award. Prior to MDW, Julia was the Founder and CEO of Little Pim, the leading language educational program for young children. During her nine years as CEO, she raised six million dollars in angel and venture capital and forged partnerships with leading children's brands like PBS, Leapfrog and Hulu.

L'Tomay Douglas

L. Tomay Douglas is a Restorative Justice Equity Educator, Social Worker, a Substance Abuse Counselor, Consultant, and Coach. Her work centers on healing, equity, and justice through education. Tomay is a facilitator with Restorative Justice Education (RJ Ed) and is a Restorative Roots Collaborative member facilitating Participatory Action Research.

Mike Arnold

Mike Arnold obtained his PhD in Population Biology at the Australian National University. As a professor, he has taught at prestigious research institutes and universities around the world, including Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, China, Australia, England, and India. In recognition of his work, Mike was awarded the 1997 Creative Research Medal from UGA. In 2005, he was appointed a fellow at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Mike also received a Distinguished Merit Award from the Society for Louisiana Irises and the "Thousand Talents" Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
