At TEDxBoston 2012, where x = independently organized TED event, we honor local innovators who have the passion, curiosity, and tenacity to change the world. It will be a day filled with remarkable people and revolutionary ideas.
Our speakers plunged into the fray of packed cities, natural disasters, and aging populations with refreshing ideas for home design, crowd sourcing, and village living. They took radical and surprising approaches to treat or eliminate diseases with "pharming" and gene therapy. They engineered creative products that save infants, provide mobility, and combat the counterfeit drug trade in under-served communities. They showed us how to go back to the basics of home economics and brace for a future in which AI agents transform business economics. They combined art, design, technology, and poetry in novel ways that delighted and inspired. And despite the chaos and complexity of modern living, they reminded us of what truly matters.
Intractable issues, ingenious ideas. Boston, you brought it on.
