Theme: Roots/جذور

Our theme for this TEDx event is Roots/جذور. Roots provide the structural support the plant needs in order to withstand the forces of nature. Roots anchor the plant to the ground and spread across the soil gathering resources to allow the plant to grow and maintain its health. Just like plants we human beings have roots that lend us support and connect us to our origins and cultures. In TEDxJubileeSchool we aim to nourish the roots of each person and strengthen their relationship with their culture.
The speakers in the event will shed light on the theme in different aspects, each speaker will use their professions and stories to highlight the importance of culture in our day to day life. Aspects that will be touched upon by speakers include areas like: art, history, education, storytelling, and entrepreneurship.
We have planned activities for the event that are related to our theme that could leave our attendees with a smile. What comes from the earth returns to the earth, so our main activity will be planting seeds in the school grounds so their roots can grow deeper in addition to other activities.
TEDx is about ideas worth sharing so our event will be shared with everyone through a live broadcast in order to be accessible to everyone.

Adham & Farah Alsaid

فرح السيِد (1983- الأردن) ريادية أردنيَة وناشطة اجتماعية، مؤسِسة " جمعية سُكينه الخيرية للإسناد الاجتماعي" في عام 2007، الأولى والوحيدة في الأردن التي تُعنى بالشباب الأيتام من جميع النواحي. مناصرة لقضايا الأطفال المعرضين للخطر والأقل حظاً، أثارت قضايا الأيتام داخل الدور وخارجها للمطالبة بمساندتهم من خلال فيلم هوية (000)، وتحري صحفي مختص عام 2009؛ ما أدى إلى تفاعل من الحكومة والمجتمع المدني للتدخل والدَعم. شغلت العديد من المناصب كمستشارة مع عدد من الجهات ومؤسسات المجتمع المحلي والدولي المشارِكة في تطوير شبكة الدَعم الاجتماعي للأيتام في الأردن. اختيرت من بين 120 امرأة ريادية في الأردن لتكون ضمن شبكة تكامل في حملة صحح مثلك. وتم اختيار مبادرة سُكينة لتمثل الأردن في مجال العمل الاجتماعي كواحدة من أقوى عشرة مبادرات على مستوى الوطن العربي

Dareen Kotob

Emotional Fitness Coach | Motivational Speaker Lymphoma survivor Dareen Kotob reconciled and accepted her health challenge that taught her the true value of life. Overcoming this challenge strengthened her mentally and helped her discover her passion to guide & support individuals. Dareen is currently an emotional fitness coach and motivational speaker who helps people establish and strengthen mental health habits in order to accomplish real and long-term change in their life. She has published her own essays in local magazines, and has appeared as a guest speaker in numerous TV and radio shows locally and in our region.

Jude Jweihan

Producer, TV Presenter - Independent Business Owner at Identity Jude Jweihan is an actress, producer, TV presenter and the founder and owner of 'Identity Adult Coloring Books' line. Jude is an athlete who competed professionally in various sports. She also did theatre her whole life, and attended student exchange programs all over the world, in an attempt to round her character through different cultures. Jude excelled at the number of universities she attended including but not limited to: University of Leicester, Loughborough University and Goldsmiths university of London where she received honors for her outstanding contributions.

Laith Suleiman

Professional Flutist Jordanian artist Laith Suleiman plays the flute, an instrument that combines melancholy and joy. He is the head of the Bait Al Nay Cultural Association and a member of the “Guitanai” band, with whom he has collaborated on projects with Hamza Namira, Faya Younan, Maher Zain, Sami Yusuf, and Noel Kharman, among others. He's the musician that combines steadiness with curiosity to create music that speaks to the spirit of the listener. This year, Laith will utilize his voice and melodies to describe a civilization that dates back thousands of years.

Mai Banat

منسقة لغة عربية الدكتورة مي بنات كاتبة رواية "إليك" و"مهرة" والمجموعة القصصية "كل شيء ساكن" التي حصلت على دورات وشهادات تدعم مجال عملها. هي تعبر عن المجهول، وتعمل على نشر العناصر العامة للوجود التي لم تدخل بعد في الوعي الجماعي. هي الكاتبة التي تدفع الثقافة إلى الأمام وإلى المجهول من خلال ترجمة ما هو غير قابل للتصور إلى ما يمكن تخيله من خلالها أعمالها الأدبية.

Omar Al-Bdour

Teacher and Educator The teacher who went door to house in the village of Al-Barbeta in Tafila Governorate, knocking on the doors of his students and educating them during the Corona crisis. According to Omar Al-Bdour: "They learn letters through me. What if I abandon them now? Their future would be ruined, and they would lose everything." Regardless of the distance that separates him from the area, the kindness that dwells inside him is more powerful than any obstacle.

Samer Battikhi

مخرج أفلام، كاتب مخرج وكاتب أفلام ومسلسلات روائية. بدأ العمل في عام 2015. بدأ بالعمل كمخرج مساعد ومخرج منفذ٬ وقد عمل على العديد من الأعمال المحلية٬ والعربية٬ والعالمية في قسم الإخراج. كتب وأخرج أربع أفلام روائية قصيرة٬ كان آخرها بعنوان "عرنوس" من بطولة النجمة الأردنية صبا مبارك٫ والنجم الفلسطيني زياد بكري. يعمل حالياً على تطوير عدة مشاريع من بينها فيلمه الروائي الطويل الأول بعنوان "من مال الله" الذي حاز على منحة الكتابة من صندوق دعم الأفلام الأردني٬ ومسلسلين بعنوان "يا نصيب" و "بروباغندا".

Zeina Abu Dalbouh

زينة أبو دلبوح تعمل زينة أبو دلبوح في مجال الأعمال وتمكين المجتمع، وخبيرة في قطاعات التصنيع وتصميم المشاريع وتنفيذها، وفي مجال ريادة الأعمال مناصرة للمرأة والشباب والصحة النفسية. حاصلة على بكالوريوس في الصيدلة والتصنيع الدوائي وماجستير في إدارة الأعمال والتسويق. الآن هي المديرة الفنية لشركة رتاج للصناعات الدوائية، ومديرة مشاريع ريادة الأعمال في منظمة جسور سوريا، ومديرة - مؤسسة لشركة زاد للاستشارات.
