RE students will organize, direct, stage, and deliver a brand-new event on April 24, 2021 – TEDxRansomEvergladesSchool, which will provide a forum for live talks on the theme "Breaking Barriers." A youth version of the TEDx events previously held at RE, TEDxRansomEvergladesSchool will be shared via live stream and, if feasible, to a limited audience inside the Lewis Family Auditorium.

Alexandra Henriquez

Alexandra Henriquez is a nationally recognized speaker, advocating for others and herself through her love for acting and emotion in the National Speech and Debate Association’s Interpretation of Literature and Prose Reading categories. Her experience with theatre and public speaking, as well as on the basketball court, has instilled within her a great appreciation for interpersonal and widespread communication.

Claudia O’Sullivan

Claudia O’Sullivan is a senior at Ransom Everglades High School in Coconut Grove, Florida. She is a member of the Varsity Basketball team at her school, loves working with the elderly, and loves talking to strangers. In the fall of 2021, she will be attending the gateway program at the University of Notre Dame.

Daniella Sanchez

Daniella Marie Sanchez is a current high school senior located in Miami, Florida. She is an artist and student dedicated to the pursuit of the humanities. Daniella's major focus is in the areas of anthropology, art history, and visual art. Her purpose is to demonstrate the love she has for cultures, society, and history in all the work that she produces. She believes in the pursuit of knowledge and consistently seeks learning opportunities to further engage with the world. Whether it be learning a new language, adding to her piano repertoire, or her portfolio, Daniella does everything that she does as a way to connect with the world around her and better understand the power and purpose we hold as humans. Daniella will be attending Yale University in the fall of 2021 and intends to dual major in Art History and Anthropology.

Elanah Arnold

Elanah Arnold is a senior at the Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, Florida. She is the captain of the Varsity Basketball team at her school as well as the Editor in Chief of the school’s yearbook. In the fall of 2021, Elanah will be attending Barnard College of Columbia University.

Lucia Rose Dahn

Lucia Rose Dahn is currently a sophomore at Ransom Everglades Upper School in Coconut Grove, Florida. She is a native Spanish speaker and has been studying Chinese since seventh grade. Lucia is a member of the VEX Robotics Team, an editor of the school's literary magazine, Inklings, and on the Varsity Track and Field Team. Since middle school, her passion for creative writing has led her to write numerous short stories and novellas. Her stories, “Alone” and “Just Maybe,” earned the Grand Prize for the middle and high school divisions in the La Plume Young Writers’ Contest, and are digitally published. Lucia has also been awarded four Regional Gold Keys through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her novella, poetry, and short fiction works. In order to share her love of writing with other students, she developed Write Right Now (www.write-right-now.com) in 2019. The site offers easily accessible writing resources and provides guidance on the writing process. Lucia has presented the Write Right Now platform to Breakthrough Miami Scholars, introducing writing as a means of creative self-expression. She looks forward to attending the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio in the summer of 2021.

Matthew Helmers

Dr. Matthew Helmers is a teacher, coordinator, and researcher at Ransom Everglades School focusing primarily on post-1900 constructions of the body in literature, psychiatry, and the law. He has previously held lectureships at several universities where his emphasis was on American Postmodernism, though his electric approach to culture includes a variety of cultural objects from the past 400 years. At Ransom Everglades, he discusses everything from medieval marriage customs to turn-of-the-century gender norms in seminars that foster curious and critical minds. A fifth-generation native of Arizona, he loves his newfound home in Miami – and his favorite dinosaur is the triceratops.

Myriam Goldman-Gollan

Rabba Myriam G. Gollan is an educator, author, and lifetime learner. She has worked in the counseling and healing fields for more than twenty-five years. Her experience covers everything from religious and spiritual guidance to hospice care for the terminally ill, holistic healing, energy medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, and other naturopathic modalities. Myriam served in the United States Navy as both linguist/translator and chaplain serving the military community during her years of service. While living in Israel and Greece she opened natural health centers. Her work has received blessings from respected kabbalist rabbis and spiritual leaders. In 2012 Myriam began Torah studies at the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York. She completed her studies and was ordained in 2015. She is the author of The Prism Light, The Common Thread is Not So Thin, The Bookbinder, Between Secular and Divine, The Chrysalis of the Soul.

Yuhan Lin

Yuhan Liu is a senior at Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, Florida. Yuhan has worked with Code/Art to teach girls, design curricula, and plan events like Code/Art’s Professional Development workshops. Code/Art is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase female engagement in computer science through creative projects. Apart from teaching, Yuhan is an avid artist, programmer, and horseback rider. She will continue to pursue and combine her passions for computer science, design, and communication in the Digital Media Design program at the University of Pennsylvania.
