Catie Macauley
Catie Macauley is a senior at Catlin Gabel. She is primarily a student organizer, acting on issues like the climate crisis, mental health inequity, interfaith dialogue, voter enfranchisement, and intersectional feminism. She is the co-lead of Portland Youth Climate Strike, serves as an ambassador for Kids4Peace international, and sits on the National Youth Advisory Board for Vote16USA. She also holds leadership roles within Next Up, and volunteers on the Oregon Youthline. She is excited to speak on her experience becoming radicalized and involved in activism after having grown up in small, white, homogenous private schools. When she’s not organizing, you can find Catie speaking too quickly at a debate tournament, drilling shots on the tennis court, or getting boba with her friends.
Lily Green
Lily Green is a senior at Newberg High School. She is currently the President of Key Club, President and founder of Newberg’s D.E.C.A. chapter, a business program, as well as a member of the board of mental and physical health for her school district. Over her high school career, Lily has spent summers volunteering at Medical Teams International as well as attending Oregon Association of Student Council conferences. Before the pandemic, Lily was an OASC Capitol Ambassador for the state of Oregon, a member of Newberg’s Varsity Girls’ Rugby Team, and a preschool teacher at her local church. During the pandemic, Lily has spent her time doing what she loves most, activism. Lily is an advocate for a women’s right to choose, Black Lives Matter, and mental health and hopes to continue her advocacy throughout the rest of her life as she plans on attending an international university, majoring in political science and international relations.
Thilaga Arunarasu
Thilaga Arunarasu is currently a sophomore at Westview High School. She is an active member of Science Ambassadors, HOSA, and Key Club. She will be the Junior Representative of her Key Club next year. Thilaga has been part of a competitive swim team for over ten years and is a part of the Varsity Cross Country team. In her free time, she loves to volunteer in her community and make a difference. A guide volunteer at OHSU, Thilaga makes it a priority to brighten visitors’ days. Her favorite hobby at the moment is photography because it allows her to capture the beautiful moments around her. She looks forward to talking about mental health and the impact sports and social media has had on hers.
Zumee Hasan
Zumee Hasan is an enthusiastic junior at St. Mary’s Academy, Portland, Oregon. The last three years have shaped her into an eternal optimist armed with empathy. She is a founder of the Portland Student Pandemic Response (PSPR)— a program meant to bring the Portland student population together as a community to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her spirit of volunteerism extends far beyond her own community which led her to join Nourish Bangladesh US, a nonprofit organization, where she is an active volunteer and a member of the advisory committee. She is drawn to science and technology and currently serves as a robot manager for her school’s FRC Robotics team #5975. In addition, she is a happy Marian singer! Furthermore, the founder of St. Mary’s Muslim Student Association. As a passionate speaker she likes to dive deep into issues concerning the Muslim Community. And leads SOCPDX, a program designed to bring students of color together to share their experiences and network with each other. In her leisure she loves to cook, play with her dog Beau, or get bubble tea with friends.
