Amar Alfikar
A Divine Departure
As a muslim activist, Amar Alfikar has advocated progressive interfaith studies on gender diversity and sexuality. This former English teacher was also a member of the steering committee on Transgender Network Indonesia (JTID) and Coalition for Sexual and Bodily Rights in Muslim Societies (CSBR). He also actively writes to build bridges between religion, gender, and sexuality.
Dinny Jusuf
Dream Weaver
Having worked in Citibank and her own bussiness training consultancy for 15 years, Dinny Jusuf co-founded several non-profit organizations, including Suara Ibu Peduli (The Voice of Concerned Mothers), whose main activities are education and micro-finance for urban poor women of Jakarta. She was also active in the Indonesian National commission on Anti Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) with her last position as Secretary General in 2007. in the following year she founded Toraja Melo, a community based social enterprise to bring weaving into day-to-day life by designing, producing and marketing high quality goods starting with the hand-woven textile of Sa’dan Toraja women.
Dr. Sastia Putri Borman
The Juggling Sensei
Sastia Prama Putri is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering, Osaka University and an outstanding lecturer at the School of Life Sciences and Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology. Currently Sastia leads the metabolomic application group for microbial biotechnology, especially for biofuel production and for Indonesian food products. She co-founded the Formind Institute in 2016 and currently serves as chairman of the Formind Institute. She won the L'Oreal for Women in Science award in 2015 for research on metabolomic applications for Indonesian coffee and the 2018 Osaka University award for her contribution in initiating the double degree program of Osaka University and ITB and liaising Osaka University with many overseas partners. This year alone, she won Miyata award for early career researchers in Engineering and Metabolomics Society "The Pesident Award" 2020.
