Announcing TEDxDelNorte’s 2021 theme: “Solve for Y”

This virtual Youth Event will take place on May 29th with our outstanding speakers comprising of professional athletes, writers, professors, researchers, and more.

There are two sessions: 1) STEM focused from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM and 2) Humanities focused from 3:30 PM-5:00 PM. After each speech, the audience will have the chance to participate in a short Q and A with the speaker.

Aaron Golub

Athlete, Entrepreneur

Aaron Golub is the first legally blind athlete to play football in Division I at Tulane University, NFL free agent, entrepreneur, and public speaker.

Jay Desgrosellier

Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at UCSD

Dr. Jay Desgrosellier is an Assistant Professor at UC San Diego and researches the progression of cancer, specifically involving stem-like breast cancer cells.

Jenny Hu

Jenny Hu is a high school junior from Cincinnati, OH. She’s passionate about advocacy, storytelling, and the intersections of the two. An avid writer, her work has been recognized or featured in One Teen Story, Bluefire, and the New York Times, among others.

Dr. Kevin Wood is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University and researches energy storage devices.

Dr. Rajeev Jain is a Professor Emeritus in Electrical Engineering at UCLA, and a Senior Director, Technology, at Qualcomm where he heads a Machine Learning R&D group.

Biochemistry Researcher at the Scripps Research Institute

Dr. Ramanarayanan Krishnamurthy is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute and uses synthetic organic chemistry to research the formation of biological compounds.

Robert Quimby

Professor of Astronomy at SDSU

Dr. Robert Quimby is the Director of the Mount Laguna Observatory and Professor of Astronomy at San Diego State University. He has received the Trumpler Award and the Hyer Award for his research.
