In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

In her speech, Chae Young Woo, a second-year high school student at Taegu Foreign Language High School in South Korea, will be using the letter Z as an example showing how a lack of familiarity about something may lead to assumptions that spread throughout society. She will also highlight the negative aspects assumptions can have on society, and how one can work to prevent them. She hopes that through her speech, the audience will be able to learn how to avoid making assumptions and help to make society more credible, eventually leading to individuals in such a society to becoming more trustworthy.

Kyu Min Oh

Kyumin Oh is currently a 2nd grade student in Tague Foreign Language High School. He is interested in sports industry and is dreaming of helping to restore popularity in baseball. In this talk, he presents how we can upgrade the outcomes of our judgement. He emphasizes the importance of adding the letter "Z" into our decision making progress to approach situations in multiple different perspectives and come up with the best solution.

모두 자신의 인생에 찾아오는 변수에 대하여 생각해본 적이 있는가? 현재 대구외국어고등학교 2학년에 재학중인 이서연 연사는 알파벳 Z 가 가진 변수의 특성을 통해 자신을 신뢰하지 못하고 변수로 인해 흔들리는 삶이 건강하지 못하다는 점을 비판하며, 한 번의 실패에 좌절하지 않고 자신을 믿으며 나아가는 것이 얼마나 중요한지를 강조할 예정이다. 연사는 청중들이 그들의 삶을 더 건강하고 더 즐겁게 살 수 있는 방법을 제안하며, 이번 강연이 청중들로 하여금 변수로 인해 휘청거리지 않는 탄탄한 삶에 대해 깊이 생각하고 자신의 삶을 되돌아보며 용기를 얻는 전환점이 되기를 희망한다.

Regarding the theme ‘Letter Z’, she suggests two main topics related to the theme; ‘Generation Z’ and ‘Control Z key’. During the post-COVID era, where she had to encounter more IT technologies than before, Seoyoon Kim perceives how much she was relying on the control Z key online. Then, reflects back to her life about her behavior among the absence of control z key in reality. Through her speech, she hopes many people can live much more wisely in generation Z.

박신명 연사는 현재 대구외국어고등학교 2학년에 재학중인 18살 학생이다. 그녀는 미디어 속 묘사되는 청소년들의 낭만적인 삶과 대조되는 그녀의 삶에 대해 “왜?” 라는 질문을 던진다. 그리고 그녀는 그 질문에 대한 대답을 우리 사회에서 찾게 된다. 그녀는 각자가 가진 빛과 가치를 발견하고 가꾸어야 하는 청소년이 사회가 요구하는 획일화된 모습에 그들의 빛과 가치를 잃어가고 있다고 느낀다. 이번 TEDx강연회에서 그녀는 A와 Z라는 알파벳을 통해 우리 사회의 모습을 직선과 원으로 표현하고, 우리 사회의 모습이 경쟁을 통해 획일성을 요구하는 ‘직선’에서 서로 연결된 ‘원’으로 바뀌어야 한다고 말한다. 그녀는 청소년들이 함께 더 나은 사회를 만들어 자신의 빛과 가치를 지키며 보다 행복한 삶을 살길 바라고 있다.
