Meadow Hall has partnered with TED to organize our first TEDx event, TEDxYouth@MeadowHallLekki. The event which is a Virtual Gathering will be hosted online on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 (4pm WAT), and would feature various student speakers from Nigeria, United Kingdom, and South Africa.
The theme of this year’s event is Explore. We are challenging ourselves to look beyond the pandemic and reach for new heights and frontiers.

AbdulMalik Oseni

Student

Abdulmalik Oseni, is a 15-year-old smart and inquisitive boy from the Makoko Community, Lagos State. Malik has always been curious about how the world of science and technology works to provide solutions in our immediate environment. During the pandemic, Abdulmalik leveraged his ability to build a COVID-19 Social Distance Alert System and traffic light monitor as part of his project in the STEM Innovation Summer Program by Corona Schools Trust Council. He is a constant inspiration in his community and challenges everyone around him to always seek creative solutions to local and global challenges. He has featured on several media platforms like Channels TV. He lives in Makoko with his Grandma. He looks forward to building Nigeria’s First Spaceship and school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Joshua Agboola

Programmer

11-year old Joshua Agboola is a Programmer, Future Skills Activist, YouTuber and Speaker on technology topics. He is the founder of Joshfortech. Joshua is involved in advocacy for the teaching of tech skills to young people early. He is a knowledge coach on Joshfortech, his YouTube channel where he teaches technology skills in an easy and fun to learn manner. Joshua is considered a prodigy and tech polyglot. He started coding at the age of 6 and has built capacity in the use of a number of languages and frameworks. He has built a few games, apps and websites to his credit. More recently, he won the grand prize for the MTN mPulse tech Hackaton with a pitch for Kagukar, a voice activated educational app powered by artificial intelligence. Joshua has been called to speak at a number of physical and online tech conferences including Techpoint, ICTEL Expo, Rise Network Conference, Brace Technology Conference and the Swiss Cognitive Commonwealth Conference.

Kasope Arifayan

Student

Kasope Arifayan is a 14-year-old from Lagos, Nigeria. She enjoys reading, particularly fantasy and sci-fi. She hopes to study something involving history in the future. Her talk is centered around how she views her relationship with her culture, specifically the general disconnect she feels from it.

Mofopefoluwa Lesi

Student

Mofopefoluwa is a Year 10student of Meadow Hall College passionate about equality and human rights. She looks forward to studying Economics at the university to help her start up an NGO to support people of all races, ages, gender, and size to achieve equality. Her talk is inspired by her passion for being unique rather than being compared to others around her.

Stacey Fru

Bestselling & International Multiple Award Winning Author

At age 7, Stacey was the youngest writer on the continent, if not the world. Over the years, she has positioned herself as the Bestselling International Multiple Award Winning Child Author of Chapter books, a Philanthropist, Activist, Analyst, Brand Ambassador, and Public Speaker. Through her foundation, Stacey gives to underprivileged and inaccessible children in forms of books, clothing, computers, foods, learning sessions, etc. Stacey is also the Custodian of the first ever Annual AfrICAN Children of the Year Awards hosted to coincide with Universal Children’s day every November in Johannesburg. Among her many educational projects, Stacey uses her online television channel @CTVSA to educate children and adults alike about the African continent and the world.

Tammy Oyebanji

Tammy is a Nigerian student studying and living in the United Kingdom. She is an author, youth speaker and multi-instrumentalist. She plays the piano, ukelele, and guitar. She also enjoys playing chess and reading. Tammy served as the head girl in her primary school and was chosen as a Leading Light. Tammy is a member of the Kent Youth County Council. She comes from a family of doctors and would like to be a pediatrician and run her own practice and chain of businesses when she grows up.

Tundun Olugbenro

Tundun Olugbenro is a brilliant 14year old year 9 student at Meadow Hall College, Lagos Nigeria. She is a young Biomedical Engineer aspirant. When she isn't maintaining her leadership roles and spot on the school's honour roll she enjoys cooking and reading.
