In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Brandon Tang

Brandon Tang is an award-winning physician, author, educator, and healthcare innovator. Although he loves his work as a physician, the chaos and disorganization of inpatient medicine has always concerned him. He believes that there is a hidden pandemic of “assembly line medicine” in healthcare which needs to be addressed.

Carly Phillips

Carly is an ecosystem scientist who studies carbon, wildfire, and solutions for the climate crisis. Her research has taken her from cloud forests in Costa Rica to arctic tundra in Alaska, which has highlighted how rapidly increasing temperatures threaten global ecosystems and strengthened Carly’s passion to address climate change.

Dai Manual

Dai Manuel is an award-winning author and sought after leader who knows the struggle of the juggle while keeping his health and happiness a priority. After his second life altering experience in 2010, he has helped 1000’s of people take ownership and enhance their lives through education, encouragement, and community.

David Bentall

A graduate of Harvard, and former CEO of Dominion Construction, he helped bring the 2010 Olympics to Vancouver. As a professor, family enterprise advisor, & executive coach, David has written three books. In 2013, in his age group, he was ranked the number one male slalom skier in the world.

Fawzan Hussain

Fawzan is an 18-year-old disruptor and innovator who uses technology as a problem-solving catalyst. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, he used his 3D-Printing knowledge to create and distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to his community. Through this process, he found hope and realized the impact of youth in their communities.

Grace Sinats

16: How young voices build strong democracy
Grace Sinats is a 15 year old climate activist, and advocate for lowering the voting age to 16. In 2019 her climate activist group mobilized over 20,000 people to the streets of Victoria, fighting for climate action. Her biggest passion is fighting for what is right, and breaking down the status-quo.

Johnny Trinh

Johnny Trinh, is an interdisciplinary, community-engaged artist. Johnny’spedagogy is rooted in the constant goal of fostering a sense ofempowerment, agency, and compassion through socially-engaged,community-based art. “It takes a community to build an artist... whether weare nurtured by it, or resist against it.”

Lizzie Allan

Lizzie is the founder of Hilarapy, a unique pathway to healing from trauma and loss using comedy therapy and community. Her limitless passion and uncanny vision to re-imagine a healthy, comedy eco-system has led her to work with people from all walks of life from all over the world.

Olav Krigolson

Dr. Olav E. Krigolson is one of the world’s top neuroscientists in the field of mobile EEG and recently led a Canadian team on a mission in the HISEAS Mars Habitat. His research uses leading-edge technology to solve real world problems and has been featured on the Discovery Channel and CBC’s Quirks and Quarks.

Orville Lee

Orville Lee is the Co-founder of the Pathfinder Youth Centre Society, Former professional CFL football player, 1988 Schenley Rookie of the year and most outstanding Canadian. Orville believes strongly in the power of mentorship as it has personally altered the path of his life.

Sue Blyth Hall

Sue is dyslexic and for the past 22 years has enjoyed working with wonderful individuals who have attracted a so-called learning disability label. Knowing them to be learning-able, she is now dedicated to initiating changes that will ensure all our children have a cognitive equal opportunity as they enter school.
