In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Betty Klimenko

Betty Klimenko is nothing if not a pioneer, whose story begins long before 2013 when she became the first woman in history to own a Supercars team. Although Betty doesn’t look like your average company president, she has guided Erebus Motorsports to outstanding success during her time at the helm. Known as the ‘matriarch of motorsports’ Betty and Erebus have set a new standard for accessibility within the world of racing, who has utilised her own popularity to provide glimpses of behind-the-scenes action to her fans. In 2017, Erebus, under the watchful eye of Betty, won the Bathurst 1000, and the victory has since played a large chapter in her incredible life story.

David Ziegler

Associate Professor David Ziegler trained as a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard Medical School, and is now a paediatric oncologist at the Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. He is currently the head of the brain tumour program, and responsible for the facilitation of clinical trials in regards to cancer research and leads the national childhood cancer personalised medicine trial. Dr Ziegler's work focuses on the development of novel targeted therapies for childhood brain cancers and has dedicated his professional career to providing life-saving medical care to those who need it most.

Pat Farmer

At just 18 years old, Pat ran the Sydney to Melbourne Ultra Marathon, his first ultra of many ultra-marathons, and the event that made him fall in love with sport. Since then, Pat has run around and across all corners of the Earth in a mission to raise awareness from various global humanitarian causes. Running in Australia alone, Pat holds the world record for the fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert by a single man as well as the fastest runner to circumvent the perimeter of Australia, a mere 14,964km. Internationally, Pat has run the length of Vietnam to bring clean drinking water and sanitary conditions to the region. He has run the length of India to raise funds for the education of disadvantaged girls. He ran with a message of peace in his 1500km journey throughout the Middle East, in an attempt to bring people together through sport. However, he is most famous for his 22,000km run from the North Pole to the South Pole, completed in one year, with not a single rest day. Pat has raised millions for various charitable organisations during his 30 year running career, including Lifeline, the Cancer Council, the Australian Red Cross, Diabetes Australia and the Nani Khali Project.

Rob Silberstein

Dr. Rob Silberstein, who despite being born with a severe joint and muscular disability, has become a powerhouse in the world of commercial law. Dr. Silberstein’s life has been marked by uphill battles, but none greater than when he challenged the medical establishment to become the first registered medical doctor in Australia with a substantial physical disability. Dr. Silberstein holds numerous degrees including a Bachelor of Medicine (MB, Bachelor of Surgery (BS), Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons I), Master of Health Law (MHL), Master of Industrial Property (MIP), Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Grad Dip (Legal Practice). He currently runs his own law firm, Silberstein & Associates, with his wife, Jessica. Through his work at The Northcott Society and Northcott Innovation, he continues his fight to give those with disabilities equal access to a quality education and vocational opportunities.
