Amber Wang
Amber Wang is a current junior at Gretchen Whitney High School who loves wet rocks, squishable things, and boopable snouts. She is interested in anything humanities-related because she loves learning about people, but she’s still working on her people skills. Her weekends are usually filled with anime (seasons not episodes), performances with her lion dance troupe, and work (helping with her dad’s business). At school, she can be found banging it out on the taiko drums or getting heated over classroom debates on social issues, but at home, she likes to take naps or chill on the front yard with the stray cats. This year’s wonderful TEDx’s student coordinators, Monica and Madison, called her a very bubbly and happy yet shy person, and she wants them to know that those words made her blush very hard in both happiness and embarrassment, so they were spot on about her personality. Amber loves experiencing stories through books (fanfiction), music, and spoken word. In sharing a piece of the beautiful world she sees through her poetry, she hopes to inspire others to create or consume poetry too.
Anastacia Son
Anastacia Son is currently a senior at Gretchen Whitney High School and is passionate about social science, and of course personalities. She loves gaining knowledge on new topics through research. For example, she enjoys reading up on The Enneagram and Myers-Briggs articles about self-improvement. When she's not volunteering in campaigns, you can find her playing water polo, being a captain on her swim team, journaling, or writing poetry. In her free time, Ana also loves staying active and biking. As she enters a new chapter of her life, Ana plans to pursue law, political science, data science, or psychology.
Eileen Chang
Robotics Enthusiast
Eileen Chang is a Junior at Whitney High who likes baking and playing video games. She loves iced tea, cute stickers, and lunchbox cakes, and dreams of owning a cafe when she gets old. She is passionate about computer science and the gender disparity in it. She aspires to one day work in artificial intelligence to help change the face of the internet. She wants to stop media portrayal from persisting societal stereotypes, like the ones that told her that all programmers were boys. Her talk is inspired by her experiences as a girl in computer science, as well as everything she learned because of it. She wants to share her story to give the people around these girls and women insight into this very common problem and in hopes of empowering girls like her past self.
Shravani Khisti
Shravani Khisti is a senior and has a passion for scientific research. She is planning on majoring in neurobiology and bioinformatics but actively enjoys widening her scope of knowledge towards other fields, especially actuarial science. She hopes to one day conduct research in the field of medicine as an aspiring physician. Shravani is an avid personality-test taker and loves exploring neuroscience topics ranging from Autism Spectrum to neurodegenerative disease. In her free time, you can find Shravani channeling her creativity through calligraphy, yearbook, and Bollywood Dance. Shravani was inspired to explore the idea of personality dynamics in teamwork after creating her own test to group students from her Virtual Brain Camp. She hopes you enjoy the talk and gain new insights!
