In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alicia Lui

Alicia Lui loved playing sports growing up. She is founder of Women In Sports Empowered Hong Kong (WISE HK), a non-profit initiative that uses sports as a tool for women's empowerment, gender equity and social justice. She spends much of her energy advocating for women and girls to participate in sports, and even wrote a children's book, Sporty Girl Journals, to channel the inner sportiness of girls. By day she works at a technology-enabled initiative that combines hiking with the conservation of Hong Kong's nature and environment.

Chi Kin John Lee

Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Vice President (Academic) and Provost and Chair Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, joined the University (the then Hong Kong Institute of Education) in 2010. He was Dean of Education and Professor of Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Professor Lee was also the Director of the Centre for University and School Partnership and had served as a Fellow of United College and Morningside College at CUHK. He had worked as a secondary school teacher and a Lecturer at the Sir Robert Black College of Education.

Lauren Lai

Lauren Lai is an EdUHK alumna and speech language pathologist who currently works in a private clinic. She has an inherent desire to bring joy and positivity to people and communities. After going through a self-help journey, she has adopted a strong belief that life is full of opportunities and that everyone can achieve their full potential through love and care. Lauren is now helping people with language, communication, and swallowing challenges on a daily basis. She is fond of public speaking and is also an active member of the Hong Kong Toastmasters community.

Michael Khan

Michael Khan (Bestfriend Michael) is known as “everyone’s best friend”. He grew up performing, speaking, and writing, and completed a business master’s degree at CityU. Being a mixed-race Hongkonger and community leader, hustling between paradoxes of Hong Kong’s multicultural parallel worlds, his advocacies stretch from HK youth to ethnic minorities, gender, education, fashion, civic engagement, and public policy. Named “HK's 30 under 30” of 2019 by the Loop HK and "Youth to Watch 2018" of the Zubin Foundation by the Chief Secretary of HKSAR, his signature "Best Friends for Further Education" project has helped marginalized students find ways into local tertiary institutions.

Vivek Mahbubani

Vivek Mahbubani is a Hong Kong-bred bilingual stand-up comedian performing in both Cantonese and English. Having been crowned the Funniest Person (in Chinese) in Hong Kong in 2007 followed by his victory in the English category at the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition in 2008, Vivek has had the opportunity to take his sense of humor all over the world. One of Vivek's passions is reading and his favorite book is Sun Tzu's Art of War. Oddly, his favorite color is hot pink.
