Theme: Perseverance

TEDx is created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and the latest research in their local areas and spark conversation in their communities. TEDx events are organized independently under a free license granted by TED. This year, the Student Executive Board from Sampoerna University can host the first TEDx event at Sampoerna University. TEDxSampoernaUniversity 2021 will use ‘Perseverance’ as the theme, inspired by NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines perseverance as the “continued effort to do, or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.” During the Covid-19 pandemic, humanity as a whole has to have perseverance in facing adversity, and it can manifest through numerous circumstances whether, mentally, financially, and others. By bringing ‘Perseverance’ as the theme for our TEDx event, we aim to show the audience how perseverance is not only shown due to this pandemic but is also an integral character of humanity shown from the past until present in our daily lives, and it is a way for us to succeed in life.
TEDx Sampoerna University will be held on March 20th-21st, 2021, on the Livestream Website. With the theme 'Perseverance,' this event will take around seven hours by presenting seven ideas to the audience with different speakers according to their respective fields.

Arief Rosyid

drg. Muh. Arief Rosyid, M.KM is an alumnus of the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Hasanuddin University. Arief also has a Master’s degree in Public Health (MKM) from the University of Indonesia. Arief is a doctor who has moved to become an activist who cares about youth empowerment and Indonesia's 2045 demographic bonus. Empowering youth has been a concern for Arief since becoming Chairman of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) Executive Board (HMI) in 2013 - 2015. Currently, Arief serves as a commissioner, independent Sharia Bank Indonesia.

Asfinawati Asfinawati

Asfinawati, a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia, is currently the chief of Yayasan Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Indonesia (YLBHI). As a judicial and human rights activist, Asfinawati's life is full of challenges and sacrifices. Habibie Afsyah is a muscular distropy survivor that has been succesfully become an author, motivational speaker, and digital marketing consultant. He has proven to the world that condition, dissablility, is not a burden for us to succed and reach our dream. Habibie Afsyah is also the founder of Yayasan Habibie Afsyah which built to improve the life quality of people with disaability.

Iffandy Khainur Rahim

Iffandy Khainur Rahim, also known as Evan, graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Indonesia. He is currently the CEO of Satu Persen (an Indonesian education startup). Satu Persen’s big goal is wanting everyone to be empowered by having an identity-aware, active problem solver and growth mindset. Ifandi, the CEO of Satu Persen, is going to deliver his speech about “Dealing with your strain through self-discovery.” His speech about self-dicovery will support and reflect their slogan "Kami percaya, setiap orang berhak berkembang, setidaknya 1% setiap hari menuju #HidupSeutuhnya."
