We have all heard that laughter is the best medicine. According to Psychology Today, laughter reduces pain, increases job performance, connects people emotionally, and improves the flow of oxygen to the heart and brains.

Join us for our February salon where you will learn more about how humor can be used to help us cope. Join us a little early for a beverage and fellowship.

Catherine Stoddard

Pain through Improv
Catherine stumbled into the improv comedy scene at Greenville’s local Alchemy Comedy while she was lost in the wilderness of grief. In the affirming and creative world of improv she discovered the strength of laughter and the need for levity. To her surprise, making people laugh is just plain fun. She joined Alchemy’s performing Company in 2013. As a long-time resident of Greenville, she has witnessed Greenville’s transformation and is passionate about Greenville and optimistic about its future. She is active in the community and has served on a number of non-profit boards. By day, she is a forensic accountant and CPA with DHG and serves as an expert witness in court for financial, economic, and valuation issues.

Kenneth Hughes

Stand Up Comedian
Kenneth E Hughes is a local, natural born comedian in the Greenville area who began developing his craft at an early age. Coming from a large family with southern roots, family gatherings automatically became Kenneth's stage. Long before puberty, he could garner the attention of his family members, young and old, with his penchant for lifting spirits and evoking laughter. He could simultaneously have soda spewing from a cousin's mouth and an uncle choking on pie with his effortless witticism. Being visually disabled, Kenneth has a uniquely radical brand of comedy and his perspective on life is fascinating and quite compelling. In spite of this - perhaps, because of it - he heralds himself as the world's first blind sex symbol. Utilizing the gifts that he was born with and the talents he's honed, Kenneth produces his own shows showcasing the talents of other comedians in the Upstate area and throughout the Southeast.
