TEDxThessaloniki was held May 9 2010 at Olympion Cinema in Thessaloniki, Greece. There were four live talks, all about an alternative future, which was the event’s theme, by Leontios Hadjileontiadis. Filios Stangos, Martin Angelov and Marios Spiroglou.

Leontios Hadjileontiadis

Leontios Hadjileontiadis born in Kastoria in 1966. He received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1989 and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1997 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Aristotle. Since 1999 he is a faculty member in the same section (current position of Associate Professor) in Telecommunications, Signal Processing Laboratory and Biomedical Technology. His research concerns the recording, processing, analysis and modeling signals and the development of related applications (hardware-software). Since 2004 engaged in the development of applications for people with disabilities,discriminated on a global level, implementing advanced applications such as browser for the visually impaired (SmartEyes, 2004), portable sign language to speech and vice versa translator (Sign2Talk, 2005), advanced educational environment for children with disorders on the autistic spectrum (Noesis, 2007).

Filios Stangos

Filios Stangos is a journalist from Thessaloniki. He studied Political Sciences in Brussels, where he began his journalistic career as an Athens News Agency correspondent. In 1998-99 he was press adviser of the late Deputy Foreign Minister Yannos Kranidiotis. He considers himself lucky that he learned while working at the TV "Black Box" of Paul Tsimas, Alexis Papahelas and Tassos Telloglou. He returned to Brussels (2002-2005) as a correspondent of the newspaper "Ta Nea" and ERT which produced the show "Evrokentrikotites (ET1, first half 2004). Since then he stays and works in Athens. Since 2008 he co-hosted the international broadcast news "Correspondents" (NET) and he is newspaper Kathimerini's editor. He traveled to Serbia and Kosovo (war 1999), Pakistan (2001), Afghanistan (2005), Turkey, northern Iraq (Turkish-Kurdish crisis 2007), Georgia (war 2008) and elsewhere. He is the creator current affairs documentaries. In 2005 he was awarded ("best television reportage," Faces "2005) to cover the" tsunami "in Sri Lanka.

Martin Angelov

Martin Angelov is a graduate of the Sofia University of Architecture, Civic Engineering and Geodesy. In 2009, he won the City Transportation Interchange Brief at the Line of Site international architecture competition. He is currently involved in several experimental projects for the urban environment. He enjoys simplifying things to an extreme and challenging convention.

Marios Spiroglou

Marios Spiroglou was born in Thessaloniki. When he was young he dealed with paints and canvases. Now he has left the brushes and he uses his camera as a paintbrush. He studied in Britain and he has worked in television, theater and advertising. He directed short films, video clips and commercials. In 2008 he founded the intervention group Sfina, whose objective is the agitation of the routine. Today he runs his own studio and HELLOKINETIK the deal, not least by creating TV spots.
