Theme: EUDAEMONIA

According to Aristotelian philosophy, Eudaemonia is the highest good in our lives, also being a regulator of human behaviour. The concept of Eudaemonia contains an eventual continuity of actions that hold the transition from potential to active being. Eudaemonia defines our constant personal development and the comprehension of ourselves, while being a distinct concept of that of happiness, as a synonym of completion, according to ancient Greeks. Eudaemonia, anyway, draws its meaning and its dynamics from the “teleological” philosophy, so the achieving of happiness through the “absence of pain” isn’t the aim according to hedonistic philosophers, but the completion of every personal target is. In a more modern and allegorical approach for us, the team of TEDxAUTH, Eudaemonia describes a human achievement, personal liberation, achieved through a constant and gradual attempt. TEDxAUTH 2021 talks will figuratively express the process of achieving a personal “Eudaemonia,” proving that human potential is, at last, enough for the conquest of the highest good, and that the ability to overcome social and cultural stereotypes is innate within all of us, manifested in various aspects of our lives. Based on the notion of the highest purpose of Eudaemonia, we are inspired by everyday people that embodied social change and personal completion in an attempt to inspire our own personal revolution.

Anna Papageorgiou

Η Δρ. Άννα Παπαγεωργίου σπούδασε Κλινική Διαιτολογία στο Χαροκόπειο Πανεπιστήμιο και Επιστήμη Φυσικής Αγωγής & Αθλητισμού στο Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, με ειδικότητα στον Κλασικό Αθλητισμό, ενώ υπήρξε αθλήτρια του κλασικού αθλητισμού για 14 συναπτά έτη. Είναι διδάκτωρ της Ιατρικής Σχολής του ΕΚΠΑ και ερευνήτρια Γ’ βαθμίδας. Στο πεδίο δράσης της συμπεριλαμβάνεται ο σχεδιασμός της Εθνικής Διατροφικής Πολιτικής, ως Εθνική εκπρόσωπος του Υπουργείου Υγείας στην Ευρωπαϊκή πλατφόρμα Διατροφής και Άσκησης. Έχει διατελέσει Διατροφολόγος αθλητών υψηλού επιπέδου σε επαγγελματικές ομάδες καλαθοσφαίρισης (Ολυμπιακός, Ηλυσιακός, Πανελλήνιος) καθώς και Εθνικές ομάδες (Εθνική Ρυθμικής Γυμναστικής Ανσάμπλ, Εθνική ομάδα Ποδηλασίας, Εθνική ομάδα Χειροσφαίρισης) ενώ εργάσθηκε κι ως Υπεύθυνη έργου στον σχεδιασμό των υπηρεσιών σίτισης και διατροφής στους Ολυμπιακούς και Παραολυμπιακούς Αγώνες “ΑΘΗΝΑ 2004”. Υπήρξε Διευθύντρια Διατροφής στο Ολυμπιακό Στάδιο, σχεδιάζοντας το πρόγραμμα διατροφικής υποστήριξης των αθλητών αλλά και το επίσημο μενού για την τελετή έναρξης και λήξης των αγώνων. Dr Anna Papageorgiou graduated from Harokopio University with a degree in Clinical Dietetics, and from the Kapodistrian University of Athens with a degree in Physical Education & Sport Science, specializing in Athletics. She was also competing in Athletics for 14 consecutive years. She holds a PhD in the Medicine Department at NKUA, and she’s a 3rd grade researcher. Her field of action includes designing the National Nutritional Policy, as a national representative of the Ministry of Health at the European platform of Diet, Physical Activity and Health. She has served as a Nutritionist for many high-level athletes in professional basketball teams (Olympiacos, Ilisiakos, Panellinios) as well as in National sports teams (National Ensemble Gymnastics team, National Cycling team, National Handball team). Anna has also worked as a Project Leader in designing the catering and nutrition services at the Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She was the Olympic Stadium’s Nutritional Director, designing the athlete’s programme of nutritional support, but also the official menu of the opening and closing ceremonies.

Antonis Vavagiannis

Ο Αντώνης Βαβαγιάννης γεννήθηκε το 1981 στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε παιδαγωγικά και μουσική στην Αθήνα και δουλεύει σαν δάσκαλος σε δημοτικό σχολείο. Είναι ιδρυτικό μέλος του συγκροτήματος Empty Frame και πρόσφατα του μουσικού project Οther Me. Η άλλη μεγάλη αγάπη του είναι τα κόμικς, με γνωστότερό του δημιούργημα το δημοφιλές και βραβευμένο 2 φορές με comicdom award διαδικτυακό κόμικ «Κουραφέλκυθρα», που ξεκίνησε το 2007 και συνεχίζεται μέχρι σήμερα στο site του Nerdcult και του Luben. Έχουν εκδοθεί περισσότερα από 10 βιβλία του, μεταξύ των οποίων 2 τόμοι και 5 τεύχη «Κουραφέλκυθρα» και «Οι Προτελευταίοι», ένα συνεργατικό κόμικ με τον καλό του φίλο Θανάση Πετρόπουλο. Στον ελεύθερο του χρόνο του αρέσει να γράφει βιογραφικά του εαυτού του σε τρίτο πρόσωπο. Antonis Vavagiannis was born in 1981 in Athens. He studied pedagogy and music in Athens and works as a teacher at an elementary school. He is a founding member of the band Empty Frame, and most recently of the music project Other Me. His other great love is comics, with his best-known creation being the popular and twice awarded with the comicdom award, online comic "Kourafelkythra," which started in 2007, and continues to this day on the site of Nerdcult and Luben. More than 10 of his books have been published, including 2 volumes and 5 issues of "Kourafelkythra" and "The Penultimate," a collaborative comic with his good friend Thanasis Petropoulos. In his spare time, he likes to write biographies of himself in the third person.

Dimitra Vogiatzi

Ο Κώστας είναι από την Αθήνα και η Δήμητρα από τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Όσο βρίσκονται μακριά, ο μόνος τρόπος, να ανταμώνουν κάπου στα μισά, είναι δια μέσου της μουσικής και των τραγουδιών τους. "Εξάλλου κάπως έτσι ξεκινήσαμε". Ο Κώστας σπουδάζει μουσική παραγωγή και ηχοληψία, ενώ η Δήμητρα κάνει τις σπουδές της στον χορό και τον κινηματογράφο. Μας αρέσει να παίζουμε μουσική σε δρόμους και βεράντες, με φίλους ή οι δύο μας, με θέα την πόλη ή την θάλασσα. Kostas is from Athens and Dimitra from Thessaloniki. Since they’re apart, the only way to meet halfway is through their music and their songs. “That’s how we started anyway.” Kostas is studying music production and sound engineering, while Dimitra is studying dance and cinema. We love to play music on the street and on terraces, with friends or just the two of us, with a city or sea view.

Giannis Katinakis

Γιάννης Κατινακης. Όνειρο μου να κάνω τους αλλους να γελάνε. Λίγο ηθοποιός λίγο κωμικός λίγο σαμπουάν και λίγο μαλακτικό. Είμαι του 97' αλλά θα είμαι για πάντα 18. Φοβάμαι τα αεροπλάνα τους θλιμμένους ανθρώπους και τον θάνατο. Κάνω stand up comedy και προσπαθώ να μετουσιώνω τις μαύρες μου σκέψεις σε στιγμές δυνατού γέλιου. Giannis Katinakis. My dream is to make others laugh. I’m a little bit of an actor, a little bit of a comedian, a little bit of shampoo and a little bit of conditioner. I was born in ‘97 but I’ll always be 18. I’m scared of airplanes, sad people and death. I do stand-up comedy, trying to transubstantiate my dark thoughts into moments of loud laughter.

Infinite Route

Οι Infinite Route είναι μια hiphop ομάδα που δημιουργήθηκε πριν περίπου 1μισι χρόνο. Προπονητής της ομάδας είναι ο Κώστας Βασιλάκος (Hako KV), ο οποίος σαν χορευτής έχει εμβαθύνει στο freestyle (αυτοσχεδιασμό), ενώ σαν χορογράφος έχει ως στόχο να αναδείξει τη street κουλτούρα, μέσα από τα projects και τα shows που ετοιμάζει με τις ομάδες και τους μαθητές του. Τα υπόλοιπα μέλη αποτελούν οι: Κώστας Καρακατσάνης, Χριστίνα Ζουλιανίτη, Λίνα Νάκα, Χρήστος Καλαϊτζής, Ντίνα Μπρίκου και Αθηνά Τσαπάρα. Η ομάδα ασχολείται με το freestyle και σκοπός είναι η προσωπική εξέλιξη του καθενός, μέσα από την ομαδική δουλειά. Η σύσταση της ομάδας είναι σημαντικό κομμάτι καθώς παίζει ρόλο στην καλή συνεργασία και στην πορεία της.Τους αρέσει πολύ να δουλεύουν και να δημιουργούν μαζί. Μέσα από το show που θα παρουσιάσουν θέλουν να αναδείξουν τη σημασία του hiphop προσωπικά για τον καθένα και να εκφράσουν αυτό που εκπροσωπούν. Infinite Route is a hip-hop group that was created about a year and a half ago. Their coach is Costas Vasilakos (Hako KV), who’s involved with freestyle as a dancer, while as a choreographer he aims to bring out street culture, through projects and shows created with his teams and students. The other members of the team are Costas Karakatsanis, Christina Zoulianiti, Lina Naka, Christos Kalaitzis, Dina Brikou, and Athena Tsapara. The group mainly does freestyle, and they’re aiming at everyone’s individual evolution through team work. The members of the team are an important part, as they make a difference in the good cooperation and further development of the team. They love to work and create together. Through their show they want to give prominence to the importance of hip-hop individually for everyone, and to express what they represent.

Konstantina Theofanopoulou

Η Δρ. Κωνσταντίνα Θεοφανόπουλου είναι μεταδιδακτορική ερευνήτρια στο Rockefeller University της Νέας Υόρκης. Έκανε το διδακτορικό της στη Νευροβιολογία της Γλώσσας και τη Γονιδιωματική (University of Barcelona, Duke University, Rockefeller University), με μελέτες πάνω στον ρόλο της ορμόνης ωκυτοκίνης στη γλώσσα και την εξέλιξή της στα σπονδυλωτά είδη, και στη σύγκριση του DNA του ανθρώπου με αυτό άλλων οργανισμών. Το 2021 επιλέχθηκε στη λίστα Forbes 30 Under 30 στην κατηγορία της Επιστήμης. Είναι ισχυρή συνήγορος των δικαιωμάτων των γυναικών και υποεκπροσωπούμενων μειονοτήτων στην επιστήμη. Dr Constantina Theofanopoulou is a Post-Doctoral researcher at the University of Rockefeller (New York). For her Ph.D. on the Neurobiology of Language and Genomics (University of Barcelona, Duke University, Rockefeller University), she focused on the role of the oxytocin hormone in speech and its evolution in vertebrates, while comparing human DNA with other organisms. In 2021 she was included in the Forbes list 30 Under 30 in the field of Science. She’s a strong advocate for supporting women and other underrepresented minorities in Science.

Marily Mitropoulou

Η Μαίριλυ Μητροπούλου είναι Marketing Consultant και τα τελευταία 7,5 χρόνια εργάζεται στα κεντρικά γραφεία της Google στο Δουβλίνο . Σπούδασε Οικονομικά στο Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (ΑΣΟΕΕ) και στη συνέχεια ολοκλήρωσε το MBA της στο Ντουμπάι στο EAHM (σε ακαδημαϊκή σύνδεση με το Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) στην Ελβετία). Συμβουλεύει εταιρείες γύρω από θέματα μάρκετινγκ, στρατηγικής, εξυπηρέτησης πελατών, συνεντεύξεων/προσλήψεων, σχεδιασμού & εμπειρίας χρηστών (με ειδίκευση σε εφαρμογές). Είναι υπεύθυνη για UX και δημιουργικά πρότζεκτ για την Ευρώπη, Μέση Ανατολή και Αφρική. Παράλληλα, οργανώνει και συντονίζει προγράμματα για την ποικιλότητα, την δικαιοσύνη και τη συμπερίληψη. Eίναι facilitator και ambassador για το #IamRemarkable workshop της Google με στόχο να ενθαρρύνει γυναίκες και να ευαισθητοποιεί την κοινωνία σχετικά με θέματα ασυνείδητων προκαταλήψεων και ένταξης στον εργασιακό χώρο. Αγαπά τον διαλογισμό και το pilates, τα συμπεριλαμβάνει στην καθημερινότητα της και ταξιδεύει στον κόσμο για να μάθει περισσότερα για αυτά. Marily Mitropoulou is a Marketing Consultant, working for the past 7.5 years at the headquarters of Google in Dublin. She studied Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and then completed her MBA degree in Dubai, at EAHM (in academic association with Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) in Switzerland). She’s counseling companies regarding marketing and strategic issues, customer service, interview/hiring, design & user experience (specializing in apps). She’s in charge of UX and creative projects in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Meanwhile, she organizes and moderates diversity, equity and inclusion programmes. She’s a Google #IamRemarkable workshop facilitator and ambassador, aiming to encourage women and raise social awareness about issues of unconscious prejudice and integration in the workplace. She loves meditation and pilates, including them in their daily life and she travels the world to learn more about them

Niki Alexandrou

Η αποστολή της Νίκης είναι να υποστηρίζει επαγγελματίες με επιρροή να ανακαλύψουν την ταυτότητα τους, τον δικό τους τρόπο καθοδήγησης και ηγεσίας, έτσι ώστε να λάμψουν! Κατά τη διάρκεια της καριέρας της, η Νίκη εργάζεται ως οικονομικός Σύμβουλος για τη διεθνή δικηγορική εταιρεία Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. Είναι επίσης πιστοποιημένη Leadership Coach και Συνεπικεφαλής του Lean In Hellas Network Greece (Athens), υποστηρίζοντας τις γυναίκες στον χώρο εργασίας και δουλεύοντας μαζί με οργανισμούς και υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής με στόχο ένα μέλλον με ίσες ευκαιρίες για τα δύο φύλα. Αντλεί την ενέργεια της δουλεύοντας με νέους ανθρώπους. Έχει τέσσερα αγοράκια, είναι μέντορας νέων ανθρώπων στην ομάδα των 100Mentors και πρέσβειρα για τη μείωση της σπατάλης φαγητού του NGO Boroume. Έχει έντονο πάθος για τη γνώση και τη συνεχή ανάπτυξη. Παραδέχεται ανοιχτά την εμμονή της με τα ακουστικά βιβλία. Niki’s mission is to support impact driven professionals to discover their identity, drive and leadership style so that they can thrive! In her career Niki is a finance Counsel at global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. She is also a certified Leadership Coach and Co-leader of Lean In Hellas Network Greece (Athens) – supporting women at the workplace and working with organisations and policy makers towards a gender equal future. Her energy comes from being surrounded by youth. She is a mama to 4 boys, a youth mentor for 100Mentors and an ambassador for food saving NGO Boroume. She has a real passion for knowledge and constant growth. She openly admits an obsession with audiobooks.

Petros Karkos

Ο Πέτρος Κάρκος είναι Καθηγητής της Ιατρικής στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο της Θεσσαλονίκης και Χειρουργός Ωτορινολαρυγγολόγος στο Νοσοκομείο ΑΧΕΠΑ και στην Κλινική Άγιος Λουκάς. Αποφοίτησε από την Ιατρική του ΑΠΘ και ειδικεύτηκε, μετεκπαιδεύτηκε και εργάστηκε και ως Διευθυντής για 15 χρόνια στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και στην Καλιφόρνια. Είναι παντρεμένος με την Άννα και έχουν δύο αγόρια, τον Αλέξανδρο και το Δημήτρη. Λατρεύει την αδρεναλίνη που του δίνει η δουλειά του, το χειρουργείο και η Ιατρική Εκπαίδευση. Η ευγνωμοσύνη που παίρνει από τους ασθενείς του και από τους ειδικευόμενούς του είναι για αυτόν το μεγαλύτερο δώρο. Petros Karkos is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and ENT Surgeon at the AHEPA Hospital and at the St. Luke’s Hospital. He completed his degree in Medicine at Aristotle University and specialized, trained and worked as a Consultant for 15 years across the United Kingdom and California. Along with his wife Anna, they have two sons, Alexandros and Dimitris. He adores the adrenaline he gets from his job, from surgery, and from Medical Training. The gratitude he receives from his patients and his trainee medical specialists is the greatest gift for him.

Vassilis Karanasos

Ο Βασίλης Καρανάσος γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Κατέχει πτυχίο στα Χρηματοοικονομικά και την Ελεγκτική, καθώς και μεταπτυχιακό στην Τραπεζική, ενώ είναι κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού στην Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων και Εμπορικών Δραστηριοτήτων διεθνούς κλίμακας από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Ανατολικού Λονδίνου. Επιπλέον, είναι πιστοποιημένος εξεταστής περιστατικών απάτης και πιστοποιημένος ελεγκτής εσωτερικού ελέγχου. Από το 2008 εργάζεται ως εσωτερικός ελεγκτής στον χρηματοπιστωτικό τομέα. Είναι αφοσιωμένος στην μελέτη των κοινωνικών επιστημών και της φιλοσοφίας, ενώ στηρίζει ενεργά πλήθος ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων που αφορούν την υγεία. Vassilis Karanasos was born and raised in Athens. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Auditing, a Master’s degree in Banking and he is also an MBA degree holder in International Business from University of East London. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Internal Controls Auditor. Since 2008 he has been working as an internal auditor in the financial sector. He immerses himself in the study of social sciences and philosophy and he actively supports numerous health-related research programs.
