In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adam Metzler

Dr. Adam Metzler is an Associate Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University and Lab Leader at the Financial Data Analytics Lab at the Fields Institute. His research interests lie in applied probability and statistics, especially their application to problems faced in the financial industry by risk management professionals and financial regulators.

Alec Jacobson

Dr. Alec Jacobson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and Canada Research Chair in Geometry Processing. He is also a Lab Leader at the Fields-CQAM Geometry Processing and Fabrication Lab, which pioneers large-scale testing of geometric algorithms.

Anna Goldenberg

Dr. Anna Goldenberg a Senior Scientist at SickKids Research Institute, and works in the department of computer science, Vector Institute as well as ta Fellow at CIFAR and holds a Canada Research Chair in Computational Medicine. The Goldenberg lab focuses on developing machine learning methods to understand the complexities of disease as well as developing risk prediction and early warning clinical systems.

Bonnie Lyn de Bartok

Bonnie Lyn de Bartok is a leading expert in risk and social impact, and has been a founder and CEO of multiple award-winning startups. She has over two decades of social impact, finance and technology experience that spans over four continents, and has incorporated her truly international experience with big data, AI, and blockchain to her work in impact investments.

Estelle Chen

Estelle Chen is currently a Director of Technology and Innovation Banking at a major financial institution in Toronto. Estelle has extensive knowledge in advanced financial modeling, investment analysis, capital raising and senior debt financing, and is an active mentor for young leaders and entrepreneurs in the tech and innovation ecosystem.

Marzyeh Ghassemi

Dr. Marzyeh Ghassemi is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in Computer Science and Medicine, and a Vector Institute faculty member as well as a CAnada CIFAR Chair in Aritifical Intelligence. She was named on of MITs top 35 Innovators under 35 for her groundbreaking work in AI and hospital data. Her research group, Machine Learning for Health, focuses on creating and applying machine learning to understand and improve health.

Nathan Gold

Nathan Gold is a PhD Candidate in Applied Mathematics at York University. He is developing mathematical models to make better sense of the world around us, particularly in the areas of medicine and clinical data.
