In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Eleonor Hellborg

Student Speaker
Eleonor Hellborg is someone who greatly aims to inspire people to do good. She is seventeen years old. She grew up on a farm, and one of her greatest passions is helping the people around her. It is what fuels her and what her career aspirations surround. Eleonor’s topic is about the small acts of kindness we can be surrounded by every day, and how a single compliment can help brighten someone else’s day.

Jaskaran Singh

Student Speaker
Jaskaran Singh was born and brought up in a small city in Rajasthan, India. He describes growing up in orthodox surroundings, with values he often found to be archaic and sometimes even morally wrong. This upbringing and his global perspective are what has fueled his passion for advocacy - for education, awareness, and equality for all people. Jaskaran has chosen to speak about violence against women, often women who step outside the rigid boundaries of societies. Jaskaran strives to fight this issue, which he sees as part of a larger spectrum of violence and discrimination against women globally.

Maitreyee Joshi

Student Speaker
Maitreyee Joshi is from India, but her upbringing involved lots of moving around from place to place. A globally minded person, Maitreyee loves music and is a talented dancer. Her topic is something adults and students all over the world can relate to. As an IB student, she knows the feeling of stress and fear all too well. Maitreyee strives to bring awareness to this issue, as she believes that stress management is an important skill for every person to perfect. Maitreyee aims for her speech to bring some relief to some of these feelings.

Mimmi Kimming

Student Speaker
Mimmi is Swedish and spent several childhood years in Jordan. She is an experienced sailor and talented creatively, possessing a love for art, music, and writing. Aside from these interests, Mimmi also cares deeply about animal rights and climate change. Her well-attuned nature has led to the core of her topic, which is about the detrimental effects of loneliness. Mimmi seeks to explore the question of if we are more lonely in an increasingly fast-paced world.

Nidhi Sachdev

Student Speaker
Nidhi Sachdev is fifteen years old and has already lived on two continents. She was born in India and moved to Sweden when she was seven. Her global experience has made her thoughtful of what challenges different kinds of people face in different societies. Nidhi is passionate about standing up to injustices done to groups of people for the way they are. She aims to challenge the way we, as individuals in society, consider other people, and challenge labels that can be detrimental to communities.

Nour Dabbous

Student Speaker
Nour Dabbous is from Lebanon and practices Islam. She harbors a love for art as well as science and math. Anyone who knows Nour knows her for her kindness and knowledgeable spirit. These are the qualities Nour seeks to inspire and see more of in the world, and it is what fuels her fight against racism. Nour takes a firm stand against racism, and advocates for raising awareness of racial issues and injustices. She stands by the belief in freedom of expression, whether it’s the clothes you wear or the religion you practice. Today, she raises awareness and calls everyone to even the smallest amount of action in regards to concentration camps in China.

Paris Sharma

Student Speaker
Paris Sharma is someone who is passionate about equality for everyone, and an advocate for the continuous development of actions that can make it so. She is a global citizen, originally from India but has lived in Sweden and America. Paris may only be sixteen, but her voice is strong, and she wants to speak out about the things she cares about. In her speech, Paris has chosen to speak about technology, and the kinds of effects technology has on us.

Sai Devata

Student Speaker
Seventeen-year-old Sai Devata, from India, is an ambitious and driven individual, who loves sports - cricket and badminton, namely. Whilst these are her passions as well, her true passion lies in giving a voice to those who don’t always have one. Shivani’s goal is to speak about topics that are sometimes shoved under the rug. In her speech, she will address the issue of sexual abuse, often tied to the oppression of women, as she wants to encourage action in order to move towards equality.
