The Ministry of State Security (“Stasi”) of the GDR was one of the largest secret security apparatus in the world in terms of its population. In East Berlin, the Stasi maintained a large number of secret service buildings, bases and thousands of "conspiratorial apartments". Furthermore, the Stasi was also present in the western part of the city. Even today, numerous traces of the Stasi can be discovered in the cityscape. Surveillance, spying, arrests – how can a state suppress a whole city? Take a look behind the scenes together with Andreas Engwert, historian and curator at the memorial in the former Stasi prison Hohenschönhausen, 30 years after the fall of the Berlin wall.

Catering to those who wish to own "something that lasts" is the Berlin-based self-taught men‘s tailor and founder of his own eponymous brand, Maximilian Mogg. He places the timeless elegance of classic menswear at the centre of a counter movement to the unsustainable excess of our disposable culture. He argues for the 'smexiness' of owning fewer but better pieces and explains how even small adjustments to consumption habits can stem the tide of waste in the fashion industry.

Berlin is experiencing a major shift – leaving the car behind is encouraged and new ways of urban mobility are becoming ubiquitous. But surveys show that safety in traffic is a significant barrier. Is Berlin’s infrastructure lagging behind? Prof. Dr.-Ing. David Bermbach, head of “Mobile Cloud Computing” research group at TU Berlin and “Einstein Center Digital Future” has been working on research projects such as “SimRa: Safety in Bicycle Traffic” to investigate exactly that.
