In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Lyndsey Hogue

Nurse; Fitness Studio Owner

Lyndsey Hogue is a native of Dallas Texas and an alumni of Texas A&M University and Texas A&M University Health Science Center. Upon completing her Master’s in Healthcare Administration, she took a leap of faith and relocated to North Carolina for an internship that later turned into her going deeper into the healthcare field and returning back to school to become a Registered Nurse where she specializes in Nephrology at the bedside to better understand both the business and clinical sides of the healthcare industry. Lyndsey has dedicated her life to health and fitness and has opened the first black and woman owned fitness studio in Uptown Greenville, NC MELT Fitness studio. As a certified personal trainer and nurse, her life’s purpose is to see others live at their optimum state of wellness emotionally, mentally and physically

Michael Green

Sr. Graphic Designer

Michael is passionate about telling stories in innovative, immersive and disruptive ways. He holds a degree in Visualization from Texas A&M and has since worked in various roles around the university promoting the adoption of new technology and well-designed brand experiences. He was part of the team who retooled admissions marketing into what is now “Aggiebound”, was Sr. Graphic Designer helping manage the visual A&M brand, and now as Emerging & Interactive Media, does whatever crazy ideas he can get away with. Recently, that has meant traveling the world filming 360-degree videos of extraordinary Aggies impacting the globe. On the quest to step foot in 100 countries, Michael collects flags as he travels and is a published vexillologist (flag researcher). He writes a blog on flag design titled Branding the Nations and speaks on the topic of flag design and personal identity.

Ray Person

Team Lead for College, Career, and Military Readiness

Ray D. Person, Jr. is a first generation Aggie from Bryan, TX. His previous roles include mentoring, coaching, advising, student teaching, and research. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in Natural Resource Management from North Carolina State University. Currently, he is completing his Executive Education Leadership certification with the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. Ray believes students’ personal growth should be nurtured and they should feel supported throughout their collegiate careers. His passion has been influenced by a number of mentors, who instilled a sense of courage, passion, self-confidence, and resiliency in him both as a student and professional. He hopes to inspire tomorrow’s leaders with his talk as he reflects on his personal journey thus far. “To whom much is given, much will be tested as well as required.”

Suzan Nguyening

Life Coach, Speaker, Author

Suzan Nguyening is a Life Coach helping people overcome adversity, Speaker, and Author of ‘One Arm But Not Unarmed’. Suzan experienced a life altering event after a traumatic car accident. In waking up from this near-death experience, she was introduced to her new self, with the loss of her right arm. While re-learning how to accomplish basic life tasks, she also experienced re-learning to live life. Emotionally, she ventured into a very dark place, one that left her hopeless, bitter and vulnerable. Until one day- she decided to take her life experience and #bebetter instead of bitter. With the help of those around her, Suzan coached herself out of that bitter place. She learned how to create joy from within and began helping others do the same. Her mission in life became clear- to help others turn adversities into advantages. Suzan continues to spread her #bebetter message through her speaking engagements and by giving back to the community through volunteer efforts.

Timothy Davis

Artist and Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering

Timothy A. Davis is the recipient of the 2018 Sigma Xi Walston Chubb Award for Innovation. The award honors and promotes creativity in science and engineering. Davis, PhD, is a professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Texas A&M University, and a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and IEEE. He serves as an associate editor for the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, the ACM Transactions on Mathematical Software, and the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. In the artistic realm, Davis creates algorithmic artwork that translates music into visual art via Fourier transforms, graph algorithms, and force-directed graph visualization. He created the theme artwork for the 2013 London Electronic Arts Festival that appeared on billboards all over London. His most recent artistic workis a rendition of Donald Knuth’s Fantasia Apocalyptica, shown below.
