In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Beckett Swack

Mr. Beckett Swack is a fifth-grade student at Hartwood Elementary School. He enjoys playing with friends, playing video games, cooking with his family and playing with his pets. His favorite subject in school is definitely science because he enjoys studying about science-related topics. In fact, when he grows older, he hopes to become a scientist. Beckett’s speech is about the importance of family traditions and the fact that old is sometimes just as good as new.

Ella Shevchuk

Ms. Ella Shevchuk is currently a fifth-grade student at Hartwood Elementary School. Her favorite subject in school is science because she enjoys learning about the earth. Her favorite hobbies include basketball, cooking as well as crafting. In the future she hopes to become a vet, a basketball player or perhaps compete in the Olympics for swimming. Giuliana Foley

Ms. Giuliana Foley is currently a fifth-grade student at Hartwood Elementary School. She greatly enjoys ELA because she is able to express her feelings. Outside of school, she enjoys playing sports. The sports she enjoys playing are softball and basketball. In the future, she hopes to go to UCLA for softball and she would like to become a teacher. Something she is passionate about that relates to her speech is the importance of being able to deal with your emotions as a kid/finding way to help yourself when you are feeling worried or overwhelmed.
