“What unites people? Armies? Gold? Flags? Stories.
There’s nothing in the world more powerful than a good story.
Nothing can stop it. No one can defeat it.”
There was an idea, an idea to bring a group of remarkable people, people who excel in what they do, people who believe in themselves to change the tides, people who certainly have changed the time.
In reality, change isn’t brought by heroes who can soar through the skies at the speed of light or catch a bullet between their teeth. It is the ordinary people who have the courage to do something unconventional. We at TEDxFORESchool have provided a podium to these stories who cater to such change and inspire the little us that lives inside of us. Our community that celebrates this uniqueness and progressive movement invite you to be a part of this exquisite journey and serenity.
About the theme: Falling Upwards
"You don't learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over"
The essence of life can be described by these two words. Falling Upwards can describe the J curve that an entrepreneur goes through where they have to face a downhill journey before the rise to the top. How people like Elon Musk and JK Rowling faced rejection and failures before rising to the top of their game!
History is filled with examples of people who learnt to fly in the skies by first having their wings clipped. How witnessing the bloodshed at Kalinga opened King Ashoka's eyes to peace. How living through poverty brought enlightenment to the Buddha. It was an apple that fell on Newton's head that took science to new heights. It was only after 999 failures did Thomas Elva Edison find the 1 way to make the lightbulb work. Going against the current requires a human to struggle too. A struggle that breaks many. But those who wear it out are the ones who are able to have a large scale impact. Raja Ram Mohan Roy had to face dejection from his community to be able to eliminate the practice of Sati from society.
There is so much that we can take away from this theme that the possibilities are endless.
