It's critically important that we step up to shape our future. We are facing a time in history where we must speak up and prepare to lead on education, business, the arts, social justice, and more. Come and hear our ideas! Six (6) speakers from the ages of 13-21 will share their thoughts and efforts towards improving our community and the lives of those around them. Cora Cole

Student
Cora is a junior at Bainbridge High School Bainbridge, a member of BHS Global Health Club, and co-Vice President of the school’s Model United Nations. She is passionate about global affairs and politics, and spends much of her time debating current events with her friends. When she’s not doing homework or running cross country, Cora is baking, watching movies, and listening to music as well as playing the violin! She is delighted and honored to be a part of TEDxYouth@BainbridgeIsland!

Emilie Scott

Student
Emilie was recently crowned Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen 2019 through the Miss American Scholarship Organization. She is an active member of her senior class as Class President at Klahowya Secondary School, ASB Vice President, Leos Club President, Honor Society Vice President, and captain of the cheer squad. Emilie has a passion for service and has visited the Dominican Republic twice on medical mission trips. She has worked closely with several local organizations to challenge global poverty. A ballet dancer for fourteen years, Emilie has trained with the Bolshoi Ballet, Ballet West, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. She spent the summer of 2017 at the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow on a U.S. State Department scholarship, and the summer of 2019 in Spain on a Lions Scholarship. Emilie has also been classically trained in piano. Next year, she plans to attend college on the pre-med track, continuing her and ballet and music training.

Juliette Dashe

Student
Juliette is a sophomore at BHS and has been a Girl Scout for 10 years. She plays piano and is on the high school tennis and swim teams. Her path to action and service began 3 years ago and she loves the feeling of satisfaction she gets from helping those in need. Some of her activities include helping out at Rotary Auction, fixing trails on a week-long backpacking camp through Washington Trails Association, serving the homeless in Seattle and locally, volunteering at Girl Scout day camp, tutoring kids in math, and tutoring the elderly in technological issues. She is preparing for a week-long trip to Ensenada, Mexico, where she’ll be building houses for low-income families. She hopes to inspire others to action.

Natan Atherton-Schacht

Student
Natan is an eighth-grader at West Sound Academy in Poulsbo, WA. He has lived on Bainbridge Island for 7 years. He is currently on the Bainbridge Island Swim team and enjoys playing bass. In 2019, Natan became a Carson Scholar for his humanitarian actions and academic accomplishments. Natan is part of Raising The Blues, Ltd. which is a non-profit organization helping kids with special needs and unique life challenges through music. Raising The Blues, Ltd. has helped thousands of kids over the last 10 years. Natan has raised over $30,000 for this cause. Raising The Blues, Ltd. is run by Natan and his parents. Natan has volunteered since he was 6 and is now webmaster, volunteer, and fundraiser for Raising the Blues, Ltd.

Spencer Bispham

Student
Spencer is a senior at Bainbridge High School who enjoys writing about world affairs and local news. Awarded the Dr. Frank Kitamoto Legacy Award for inclusion, civil rights and social justice earlier this year, he is a student representative on the Multicultural Advisory Council and co-president of the school’s Model UN club. Cross country running, binging Netflix, hanging out with friends, and playing hockey are activities he enjoys, and he has an incurable addiction to sneakers!

Zeya Korytko

Student
Zeya is a high school senior at Bainbridge High School. She is passionate about the outdoors, especially hiking and backpacking. She's also a dedicated swimmer and was a captain for the high school girls swim and dive team. When she is not swimming or in the outdoors she loves improving her Spanish language skills. Zeya is a peer Spanish tutor at Bainbridge Youth Services and has worked with Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Island Association (BOSIA) for three years as part of the 2018 and 2019 student delegations and as a student board member. After high school she will be attending college to study Spanish.
