Dr. Mairo Mandara

Public Health Physician
An Obstetrician/Gynecologist and Public Health Physician with extensive knowledge and experience in strategic planning and implementation of health and social transformation initiatives, Mairo has worked with a wide range of stakeholder locally and Internally including high level government officials, traditional and religious leaders, women groups and civil societies across Africa. In addition to her carrier experiences and work as a gynecologist, Mairo has led many initiatives including being the Senior RH/ HIV Advisor for USAID, Health Systems Specialist for University of Columbia, Country Representative of Packard Foundation and Gates Foundation. Mairo is currently a Senior Fellow with the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) UK supporting the localization of the foundation’s programme in Africa, including Universal Health Care and PHC initiative as well as leading on Keeping Girls in School in Africa Initiative.

Fatima Askira

Youth and CVE Expert
Fatima is the Founder and Executive Director of Borno Women Development Initiative, an organization that aims to empower women and youth to play a constructive role in promoting peace and tolerance. Fatima is a member of African Women Leadership Network (AWLN), and the Secretary of AWLN Nigeria Chapter. Fatima is also a member of FEMWISE-Africa, promoting the participation of young women in peace processes. She leads an innovative mentoring program for Nigerian youths, including rescued victims of Boko Haram. Fatima focuses on de-radicalization and the creation of positive alternative narratives for women, girls and youths in the Northeast. Her interactive trainings and humanitarian support gives women and youth in Northeast Nigeria a very rare opportunity to openly discuss the conflict issues and social problems leading to radicalization and violence in their communities, providing them with economic support to boost resilience.

Gad Peter

Development Expert
Gad Peter is an astute and remarkable young man of many colors who towers high in the development and humanitarian landscape. He has traverse the rugged terrain of life leaving behind strings of achievement that are worthy of emulation. Gad as a precocious little boy began his early education at Federal Government Girls College Staff Primary School Bauchi from where he proceeded to Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School Makurdi, Benue State and the University of Jos where he obtained his first degree and later a Master in Sociology and Anthropology. Gad is a civil society activist with core experience in peace building, CVE, community mobilization and development; budget tracking and monitoring; gender advocacy, democracy and good governance; education and human rights defense. Gad is a great mobilizer of both human and material resources and has served as a resource person and facilitator in many civil society trainings and meetings with several papers and presentations to his credit.

Hassan Abdullahi

Hassan Abdullahi is a young spoken word artist who uses the art of spoken word to highlight social issues in Northern Nigeria. In this piece, he shares a compelling story of Yagana and hundreds of young girls that were kidnapped during the 10 years Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.

Prof. Isa Marte

Cancer Researcher / Pharmacologist
Professor Isa Marte Hussaini was the substantive Dean of Pharmacy and Professor of Pharmacology in the University of Maiduguri and is an Indigene of Borno State of Nigeria. Under his leadership, the Pharmacy programme at the University of Maiduguri was accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN). Professor Hussaini graduated from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a BSc degree (Pharmacy; Second Class Upper Division). He obtained MSc (Chelsea College) and PhD (King’s College) degrees in Pharmacology from the University of London UK. He was a tenured Associate Professor at University of Virginia and a member of the Pharmacology, Pathology, Cancer, Neuroscience, and Biotechnology graduate training programmes.

Razinat Mohammed

Associate Prof. Razinat Muhammad is the award winning author of A Love Like a Woman's and Other Stories. She is a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri where she lives. As a storyteller and a resident of Maiduguri, one of the hotspot of Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast, she shares her experience on how storytelling can help shape narratives especially during times of crisis.
