In addition to teaching departmental core courses, Dr. Yasmeen Haque also served as a member of the university Syndicate, as the dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, head of the department of Physics and provost of the female dormitory.
With World Bank and Bangladesh government funding, she set up a state of the art NLO lab in 2011 and her group started studying fundamental properties of nonlinear optical materials. In 2016, she set up a modern Nonlinear BioOptics Laboratory. The primary interest of this lab is the detection of cancer biomarkers and the initial findings have already resulted in submission of a provisional patent in the US and in Bangladesh.
She is the Chairperson of Kaan Pete Roi (KPR), the first and only emotional support and suicide prevention helpline in Bangladesh. She is also the vice president of the Bangladesh National Physics Olympiad Committee.
Yasmeen Haque is the wife of Dr. M. Zafar Iqbal, an educationist and writer of Bangladesh.

Naveed Mahbub is a first generation Bangladeshi-American Comedian and Electrical Engineer. He joined the career of a comedian with a burning desire to tell a great story to his grandchildren. Before turning out to be a comedian, he worked in some of the largest corporate bodies in the world. He was the CEO of IBM Bangladesh and the CEO of Nokia Siemens Networks Bangladesh. He also worked as an engineer in Qualcomm, Kyocera Wireless, Ford Motor Company, Takata, Wingcast (Startup), etc.
As a comedian, Naveed has won a galore of rewards and recognitions. He got the recognition of the Best Male Comedian, Plat Vegas Stage in 2007 Original Las Vegas Comedy Festival. He was also the Finalist in 2007 California Comedy Festival.
He founded the country's first comedy club, Naveed's Comedy Club in 2010.
