ShekouIntlSchool
x = independently organized TED event

Theme: Leap

This event occurred on
April 9, 2021
Shenzhen, Guangdong
China

In life’s journey, we put one foot in front of the other. Again and again, step after step. Eventually we all reach a point in our journey when we find ourselves on a precipice. A precipice of greatness. Of failure. Of challenge. Of reward. We are left with two options: to turn back or to take the leap.

This year, TEDxShekouIntlSchool presents speakers who have taken the leap and want to share their experience and inspire others. Speakers who have taken risks, explored their passions, and inspired others with their action and empathy.

Join us on April 9 for an evening of big ideas, heartfelt stories and personal connection. TEDxShekouIntlSchool welcomes you to our global community.

What will be your leap?

Kevin O'Shea

Nature Educator
Kevin O’Shea is an educator, podcaster, nature photographer and naturalist based in Shenzhen, China. Kevin grew up in rural Canada and always had a strong connection to the outdoors. Early in his teaching career, he realized that the vast majority of his students and their families had a complete disconnect from nature. Kevin became passionate about insects, birds and the ecosystems they were part of. His passion for environmentalism grew. Kevin learned he could “hook” young learners through his love of all things “creepy-crawly” and the outdoors. Over the years Kevin created groups such as Birds of Kansai and now the Nature Shenzhen community group where he leads Community Nature Walks in order to connect families with the outdoors. If we are going to protect the environment we live in from climate change and pollution, we must ensure the young people living in it have a love for it.
