These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

21 The band

Meet the shining stars of 21, a rock band from Islamabad, Pakistan. Their forte are high octane energy performances coupled with onstage theatricality that truly sets the stage on fire. They rose to stardom with their massive hit single “Taaray” on Ufone Uth Records 2.0 & Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 3. Out of hundreds of bands that applied, 21 managed to make it to the Top 4 band of the Pepsi BOB and their performances garnered the adulation of thousands of people across the country. Many of 21’s songs including Taare, Mein Bolun, Hum Toh, Dil Ki Baatain and Chill Mahol have been a massive hit within Pakistan and internationally with Taare being a selection for the set lists of many bands in India. She has an MPhil degree in Education Planning Management (EPM) from BahaUddin Zakaria University, Multan and has experience working with Engro Foods Company as an assistant accountant. She with the Youth Empowerment Project team and other development partners devotes her time towards ensuring full inclusiveness in all programme activities. Transgender Populations in Pakistan faces many issues such as recognition of their identity, access to opportunities, healthcare, psycho-social support, gainful employment, engagement opportunities, justice, and most importantly, the need to promote respect and freedom. Alisha is committed to counter all these key issues with her professional expertise. Her goal is to be a part of something bigger rather than just trying to survive on a daily basis. She strongly believes in human rights for all and is a leader in change, working for a well reputed organization.

Ayesha Chundrigar

With 17 internships under her belt ranging from theater to newspapers, news channels, digital media and creative writing, Ayesha is a licensed psychotherapist with the British Association of Counselors and Psychotherapists (BACP). She holds a Masters of Arts in International Journalism followed by a Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy and Counselling. A successful women entrepreneur, Ayesha is the founder and CEO of ACF Animal Rescue, which was formed on the belief that all living beings have the right to live a dignified life in an empathetic environment, conducive to enabling them to live as the best and truest versions of themselves. Meenah Tariq

Meenah Tariq is currently a Partner at Karavan, a Middle-east based VC firm looking to invest in high growth startups in Pakistan. She is an adviser on entrepreneurship at the World Bank, where she is helping design the Women Entrepreneurs Financing Initiative for Pakistan. Previously, she was the Head of Strategy and Accelerator at Invest2Innovate Pakistan. Meenah is a passionate supporter of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Pakistan and has been designing and implementing programs to encourage entrepreneurial mindsets in young people, practically support women entrepreneurs and equip entrepreneurs across the country with the business acumen required to scale high-impact businesses and SMEs. Prior to i2i, Meenah has successfully attained her MBA from Babson College, Massachusetts, USA.

Muneeb Maayr

Muneeb is the Founder of Bykea, Pakistan's largest network of motorbikes serving transport, logistics and payment services. He graduated from the University of Virginia and got his first job as an investment banking analyst at Bear Stearns in New York City. He moved on to head operations in Pakistan for US-based SNL Financial for 7 years and later served as Co-Founder and CEO at Daraz.pk for 4 years, Pakistan's largest e-commerce platform acquired by the Alibaba Group. Taimur Jhagra

Taimur Jhagra is the Minister of Finance of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, since August 2018. He is the Member Provincial Assembly (MPA), PK73 Peshawar, Head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Policy Unit and architect of PTI's First 100 Days Agenda. He has been leading the reform agenda in the province and is the focal person for the 100 days plan implementation on foreign developmental assistance, throughout the province. Recently, Taimur led the preparation of a historic budget for the province. He has formerly held the titles of Partner, McKinsey, Middle East Office in Dubai and is part of the leadership team that established the firm’s 100th office in Pakistan. Adding on, he had led the Public, Social and Healthcare practices and co-led the education practice in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMA) region. Taimur’s key areas of expertise include strategy, change management and large scale public sector transformations across education, health, tax and economic development. He has over six years experience from Schlumberger Oilfield Services, in various global line management roles and as a Field Engineer. He has attained his MBA, London Business School; BSc in Mechanical Engineering, GIK Institute.
