Barry Kerzin
Ven. Dr. Barry Kerzin is medical doctor, Buddhist monk, Adjunct Professor at the Univ. of Pittsburgh, Adjunct Prof. at HKU, and Honorary Prof. at the Mongolian National Univ. of Medical Sciences. He is the founder and president of the Altruism in Medicine Institute (AIMI) and founder and chairman of the Human Values Institute (HVI) in Japan. For 32 years he has been providing free medical care to the poor up to high lamas including HH Dalai Lama. He trains compassion for 18,000 nurses at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the Pittsburgh Police, and the Parks and Recreation department. He lectures around the world. Barry has completed a 3-year retreat, and his brain has been studied at Princeton University and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has authored four books.
Donald Warhola
A nephew of Andy Warhol, Warhola is the son of his middle brother, the late John Warhola. In 1986, after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Computer Science and Business, Warhola traveled to New York City to work for his uncle to install a network computer system for Andy Warhol Enterprises, Inc. Warhola earned a Master of Arts in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, and he worked in community mental health for 10 years as a child and adolescent therapist. In addition to being a Warhola family historian, he also works with children who have special mental health needs through the Education Department of The Andy Warhol Museum.
Feyisola Akintola
Feyisola Akintola is a foodie, a creative, an active community member and the Special Initiatives Manager for Mayor William Peduto. Born in Nigeria, Feyi and her family immigrated to Stone Mountain, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta in 1999. She grew up loving science and culture, and, as the oldest of six children, understood the value of community leadership from a young age. As the special initiatives manager for the City of Pittsburgh, she runs the Welcoming Pittsburgh Initiative and inclusion programs for immigrants, refugees and internationals. As a Nigerian American, Feyi strongly values international collaboration and is always excited to learn how to build bridges across cultures. Feyi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of West Georgia, a dual Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Sustainability from Chatham University and a Women in Leadership certificate from Coro Pittsburgh.
Lining Yao
Lining Yao designs sustainable morphing materials to advance science and society. Director of the Morphing Matter Lab at Carnegie Mellon University, she speaks and practices designs in the language of nature, material science, mechanics, and computational fabrication. Combining scientific curiosity and problem-solving, Lining and her lab develop processes, materials, tools, and applications of adaptive, dynamic, and intelligent morphing matter from nano to macro scales, oftentimes inspired by and designed for nature.
Sidney Kushner
Sidney grew up in Pittsburgh and founded Connecting Champions as a 19-year-old in memory of his friend Lauren. He graduated with a degree in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and was named a top 100 student entrepreneur in the nation by Stanford University. He has been honored in Pittsburgh’s inaugural class of 30 Under 30, featured in Harvard Business Review and Forbes, and highlighted as a guest writer in Pittsburgh Magazine. He also enjoys building specialized Outcomes Reporting software and Donor Databases for nonprofits in Pittsburgh.
