Emmanual Guddu
Our next Speaker Emmanuel is know famously as Guddu Pakistani. Born as a Catholic Christian in Sindh, Emmanuel is a freelancer, promoting culture and heritage of Sindh, using the medium of photography and videography in his own unique style. He found his inspiration from National Geographic Magazines while gazing at the cultural photos in it from Africa and other culturally rich countries, thinking why not he shows something amazing and unique from his land because Sindh is home to some most vibrant, ancient and inclusive communities and tribes in the world. Here at TEDxIslamkot, Emmanuel will be enlightening our audience with amazing stories from Tharparkar along with his stricking photography.
Sabeen Shah
Our first speaker Sabeen Shah is determined to make a difference in Thari community through education.
Sabeen is currently working at Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company in the desert of Tharparkar, Sindh as Manager Education. She is running and monitoring 18 primary schools and 6 secondary schools with a capacity of 4,320 students. Despite being in an area where education is not a consideration, let alone, a priority due to nomadic lifestyles, she has succeeded in enrolling at least 70%, out of school children of Block II and its surrounding areas.
Having her master's done from University of Manchester in Educational Leadership and Early Childhood Education Certification from Diablo Valley College, Sabeen has been actively involved with education since 1996 and has served in the capacity of Academic Coordinator, ESL Teacher, Teachers Coordinator, Mentor and Class teacher at reputable institutions in and out of the country. She has also been involved in volunteering at Hawthorn Community School, England and Tiny Tots Pre- School in Vienna, Virginia, Diablo Valley Pre-School, Lafayette White Pony School and Old Firehouse School in California.
For her public services in the field of education, Sabeen has been nominated for one of the highest civilian Award “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” by the President of Pakistan.
