Theme: Encore

Join us for the day as we explore the theme of Encore at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama for a third year. Last year’s event, Re:Act, was a massive success, with around 2.5 thousand views through the live stream on Facebook, viewers watching from all over the world.
We are inviting you again to one of the world’s top drama schools, opening the doors of Central’s Embassy Theatre for a day of “ideas worth sharing”: talks that will inspire and entertain you. We have selected the best speakers, from a variety of backgrounds and expertise.

Alex Bell

Acting

Alex Bell trained as an actor but has subsequently moved into the world of teaching, having just finished an MA in Actor Training and Coaching. He specialising in characterization, agency in actors and Clowning and is looking to pursue these more in his teaching and potentially exploring a PhD.

Bonnie Chan

Multi-lingual Children's Theatre

Bonnie is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Little Bean Theatre, the first and only theatre company catering for Cantonese-speaking children and families in the UK. She is a theatre maker, researcher, educator. Her research interest covers theatre and education as well as community cultural development. She is awarded as West Kowloon Young Fellow (Performing Arts) 2019 with her Little Bean project.

Cyrus Lamprecht

Writer and Artist

The absurdist writer and artist, will be speking about hope, despair and solitude. He is the author of 'Safran Mélancolique' and the founder of 'Episolipsism' with awards, exhibitions and publications in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and United Kingdom. His most recent performance was seen at the Tate Modern (Tate Exchange).

Eden Rickson

Climate Change Activist

Eden Rickson is a Central student on the Drama, Applied Theatre and Education Course. Eden is deeply involved in climate activism, most recently disrupting the BP Portrait Awards, an art exhibit funded by one of the world’s biggest oil companies. Eden was also involved in the youth-led campaign to get the Royal Shakespeare Company to drop BP. Eden is a graduate of the BRIT School where she studied acting and performed in a play at Southwark Playhouse. Eden also works with various organisations such as refugee charity Good Chance and movement Culture Declares an Emergency. Eden loves cooking, spoken word, south east London and charity shopping!

Emem Washington

Law and entrepreneurship

Known as ‘The Dream Ambassador’ to many, Emem Washington, is a Speaker, Author, Coach and multi-passionate creative entrepreneur. She is the author of “Rise from the Shadows: Overcome Your Past, Reclaim Your Voice, Live Your Light” and the co-author of the anthology “Women of Purpose” and has been blessed to speak internationally. Emem blends her legal, entrepreneurial, familial and spiritual experiences into real and relatable advice, sharing from her heart and inspiring women to uncover and live out their God-given purpose. -

Esther Wane

Storyteller and Creative Coach

Esther Wane is a Storyteller and Creative Coach. As a child, Esther was highly creative, however, when she became an adult she put away the creativity of her childhood and picked up a successful career in an investment bank. While this gave her status and security, it did not bring satisfaction. After the birth of her child, she developed her own creative practice and has become an award winning and in demand audiobook narrator with over 120 credits to her name. She has worked to combine her skills in business and creativity.

Georgia Andrews

Actor, Writer, Facilitator

Georgia Andrews will be interrogating the stereotype of ‘the struggling artist’. Georgia is an actor, writer and facilitator currently studying Drama, Applied Theatre & Education at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. She has previously trained in Teaching Shakespeare with the Royal Shakespeare Company / University of Birmingham and, most recently, performed professionally for Shake-scene Shakespeare and Scram Collective.

Infusion Physical Theatre Company -

Physical Theatre

Dynamic bodies moving in space, time, and spirit. Infusion Physical Theatre combines contemporary dance, non-traditional partnering, mime, puppetry and circus with soulful touches of humor, longing, tragedy, and the human spirit in bodily form. Founded in 2013 by Cambridge-based artists Daniel and Melanie Cossette, Infusion has performed site-specific work for the National Trust’s Winter Lights, in Project Dance London and Paris, in Resolution! Dance Festival (London), Sprung (Queens College, Cambridge), an innovative new dance café, as well as teaching regularly both locally and abroad. With a Christian ethos Infusion seeks to engage audiences in physical discussions of life, social justice and faith through the body and movement. Their current show, Just Sex, is a hard-hitting, thought provoking, soulful look into the modern-day problem of human trafficking for sexual exploitation in the digital age.

Jude Taylor

Writer, Performer, Singer

Our 4th Speaker is composer, lyricist, writer and singer, Jude Taylor! Jude‘s first full length musical ‘Steep Themselves in Night’ premiered at The Other Palace in London during October 2018. Prior to his work making musicals, Jude founded 'The Cognito People’ theatre collective in 2012 and went onto deliver small projects with partners including West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leicester’s Curve Theatre and YoungMinds.

Stephen Louis

Musical Theatre

Stephen Louis is a 3rd year student on the BA Acting – Musical Theatre course at the Royal Central School. He grew up doing theatre in his hometown of Houston, Texas, spent a year studying Theatre Performance at the University of Evansville, Indiana, and then after a year of working at home, found his way to London. Besides just acting, Stephen is an Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and beginning in 2020 will serve as the Actor Combatant Representative on the Executive Committee of the British Academy of Stage Screen Combat, with whom he intends on applying to become a Certified Teacher in the summer.
