Agnimitra Paul is an Indian fashion designer primarily based in Calcutta and also works actively in the Bollywood industry. Paul was born in Asansol, West Bengal, India in a family of doctors and academicians. She went to Loreto Convent in Asansol. She dreamt of becoming a doctor initially and was all geared up to crack the joint entrance and even got admission in a medical college in Bangalore but fate had different plans for her. Her would-be husband, Partho Paul who went for a meeting with her father back then put her into oblivion regarding her career plans as he hailed from a business family where conventional paths of education were not considered a great choice. She completed her masters in botany from Jadavpur university and took a course in fashion designing mostly as a hobby and received her Diploma from the Fashion School of the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts & Management Sciences concurrently. It was after the degree that she finally prioritized her calling.
