In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Benjamin is a professor of psychology, an avid motorcyclist, and is always looking for connections that show us how to live happier lives and to be more present in our lives. As a challenge, he took a riding course, got his license and now is a motorcycle rider, but he never expected that learning to ride a motorcycle would give him a different outlook on how he approaches dealing with anxiety

Diane Lovell

Professor of History
Professor of History. Former Associate Professor of European History at Houston Baptist University. Former Dean of Arts and Humanities at Houston Baptist University. Former District wide Dean of Arts and Humanities at Blinn College. I speak frequently each year in England at conferences and history societie. About ten years ago, I stumbled upon a stash of love letters in a rural English cottage. Over two hundred years old, these letters reveal an epic story between a lowly vicar, Rev. George Bisset and Lady Catherine Howard, the daughter of an Earl. I have spent many months of my life going through dusty manuscripts in ten major British archives researching these letters. My most exciting and important finds, however, have not come from books or institutional archives, the traditional mainstay of the historian’s craft. Instead, talking to the locals has proven the most profitable path.
