In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

“Hi! I’m Nandini and I’m in the 12th grade at Chirec. I’m studying English, Biology and Psychology at the higher level in the IBDP. I plan to pursue a creative writing major next year at the undergrad level. I’m passionate about a lot of things, and poetry is one of them. It’s actually through reading a lot of poems on sexuality and sexual identities that the idea of speaking on the topic of LGBTQ+ rights came to me. Upon reading tons of poetry on this topic, I found that barely any represented the Indian struggle. Every poem talked about embracing your sexuality, but what about the obstacles? What about the shame and soceital isolation? This is exactly what I want to address in my talk – Social and constitutional status of the LGBTQ+ groups in India. I’m grateful to have been given this forum to share with you all my knowledge, views and thoughts on this topic. I hope I manage to birth a similar passion and understanding for this community within all of you. See you at TEDxISH 2019!”

I’m never really at home now because of my packed schedule. In whatever free time I have you can find me outside playing sports or inside binge watching literally anything on Netflix. “My name is Rishi Chintamaneni, and I’m an 11th grader at Chirec studying in the IB diploma. You can usually find me playing volleyball, bingeing BoJack Horseman or watching Technoblade dominate Minecraft Mondays (7th-grade nostalgia is next level). Apart from volleyball, my interest lie in music and ignoring any advice my college counselor gives me. I’ve played the drums for over 8 years and don’t do anything without Kofi playing in my ears(Look him up and thank me later). Since I randomly picked up Freakonomics from my mom’s bookshelf when I was 12, I’ve had a deep passion for Behavioural Economics and Finance and have devoured countless books on the same. I aspire to either manage a hedge fund or be an investment banker in the future. My experiences combined with my interest and love for the field of behavioral economics has led me to consider myself extremely knowledgeable in this area, and I look forward to sharing that knowledge with you at TedxISH.”

“Hey, my name is Viva Naini and I’m currently a 12th grader at the International School of Hyderabad. I take Biology, Chemistry, and Economics at a higher level in IB, which probably explains why I’ve got no time to do anything… except for spending hours looking at memes, working out, playing basketball, eating impossible amounts of food, watching YouTube videos or napping. Especially napping. I love napping. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always known to take care of the environment. I don’t know if that was because of some weird elementary school indoctrination or otherwise, but it worked. I always make sure to turn off the lights when I’m not in a room, pick up litter when I see it, and turn off the faucet when brushing my teeth. I was taught to love the Earth, and now it’s time for us to do the same. I can't wait to share my view about my passion, environmental conservationism."
