In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ali Amhaz

Ali Amhaz is currently pursuing his MSc in Organisational and Social Psychology, with a focus on how ideas shape and standardise human experience and behaviour. As a student of psychology and philosophy enthusiast, Ali has dedicated his earliest years into personal development and understanding human behaviour. This journey has taken him through a multitude of schools of thought and paradigms to view the world, leading to a career focus on research and social impact. To that end, Ali has dedicated his early career to strategy, research, and supporting youth-led ventures. He is an active member of NEXUS MENA & Arab Diasporas, working with the region's leadership team to expand their strategic mandate across the Middle East and North Africa. Ali founded the Beirut Art Salon, an initiative that offers a creative space for emerging artists to display, teach, and speak through art, inviting them to cross-pollinate and forge partnerships together. He recently established a youth-led centre at the American University of Beirut to push a curriculum of leadership and organizational development for students.

Angela Muruli

Angela Muruli is a women’s rights activist. Under FORWARD’s Young People Speak Out program, she initiated the 'FGM: A Cut from Tradition youth forum and commissioned' the highly acclaimed spoken word piece, ‘Elephant in The Room’ by Emmanuel Speaks. She holds an MSc in Global Health and Development from UCL, completing a final thesis on the experiences of Black female survivors of intimate partner violence living in the UK. As a FORWARD advocate, she continues to challenge stigmatisation and taboo culture around Female Genital Mutilation and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence in the UK and across East Africa.

Arzucan Askin

As an environmental activist, marine conservationist and human rights advocate, Arzucan focuses on issues concerning human society and the environment. Currently, Arzucan serves as ambassador for the Royal Geographic Society with the Institute of British Geographers in London. When not working on projects about indigenous rights, coral reef reconstruction, natural disasters and climate change, she spends most of her time traveling the world to dance Argentine Tango. In this talk she will share her own experience as a dancer, geographer and conservationist to illustrate how we can use the power of dance to address the most pressing social, political and environmental issue of our time: climate change.

Dina Bayasanova

A Founder and CEO of PitchMe, a skills-based talent marketplace introducing multilayered profiling of skills and innovative matching algorithms. Dina possesses 12 years of project management experience at multinational companies such as Gazprom, Enel and Zurich Investment Services. She supervised multinational energy projects worth up to $200M worldwide. Mentor at the Exeter Entrepreneurship society, helping students to turn their ideas into business. Her awards include: Rising Stars Awards 2017, Young Professional of the Year by the Energy Institute, 2017

Jamie Bolding

Jamie Bolding is the Founder & CEO of Jungle Creations, a media, marketing and commerce business specialising in creating video content that is distributed to its online community of over 105 million followers. The company produces campaigns for clients including Baileys, Greenpeace, Sky and Virgin. Jungle Creations has generated the most Facebook video views for brands of any other UK publisher. Jamie founded the business in 2014 at only 23 and has grown the company to over 140 employees across four offices in the UK, US, and Canada. In 2018 Jamie was featured as the top Media and Marketing honouree in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe.

Laura Coryton

Laura started a petition to end tampon tax in 2014 while she was a student. With the backing of over 320,000 people, she has since changed EU and UK taxation laws, supported the launches of sister petitions across five continents and seen the introduction of the government's annual Tampon Tax Fund which has supported female-focused charities for the past three years. Her first book, 'Speak Up!', will launch for International Women's Day this year and is a campaign guide for rebel girls, designed to support the next generation of change-makers.

Rafe Offer

Rafe Offer is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Sofar Sounds. Sofar Sounds reimagines the live music experience for artists and fans through intimate performances. Since its founding in 2009, Sofar has grown from a grassroots community movement to hosting hundreds of local events per month in cities around the world. Sofar began when Rafe found himself frustrated by the distractions at live events like people on their phones, talking over performances, jam-packed venues and subpar stereo systems. As an alternative, he began hosting small groups of friends and artists in a London flat. The interest in attending these intimate gigs grew and this movement expanded to cities outside of London.

Thomas O'Neill

Thomas has worked on climate change for the last 8 years. Four years ago he co-founded the data-driven organisation, InfluenceMap, to counter the failure of NGOs to systemically challenge companies on their political influence whilst they reward green-wash. His work has led to over 1000 media articles, engagements with dozens of the biggest and worst offending corporations, 7 shareholder resolutions and 3 legal threats. Thomas will be discussing how vested interests have obstructed meaningful action on climate change and what can be done about it. He has Masters degree in International Security and Global Governance and is on Forbes' 30 under 30 2018 Europe Law and Policy list.
