Theme: What If?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alvin Yapan

Professor

Dr. Alvin Yapan is a champion of Philippine languages and literature, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Filipino of the Ateneo de Manila University. As a creative writer, Yapan has some of the country's top prizes in literature under his name. As a filmmaker, he has worked on EDSA (2016), produced for the 30th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution, and Oro (2016), both films winning best ensemble performances.

Carla Ocampo

Carla Ocampo is the writer of the documentary film Walang Rape sa Bontok, which won the Gawad Urian award for Best Documentary in the year 2015. She now resides in Bontoc, Mountain Province -- the locus of Bontok Igorot culture -- working as an audio-visual artisan in Balay Habi, a studio she shares with her creative partner and fiancé.

Gia Sison graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, Manila, practicing as a medical doctor specializing in Occupational Medicine. She is also well known as a social media character, using her channels for entertainment, activism, and self-empowerment.

Gina Lopez

Gina Lopez is a strong advocate of children and education, the environment and its protection, as well as health and wellness. Her conviction is that a green economy could bring on social justice and facilitate communities of harmony. It is with this end in mind that she started her own organization called iLOVE - Investments in Loving Organizations for Village Economies.

Jorge Wieneke V, also known as SimilarObjects, is a sound artist, DJ, producer and electronic music educator. His work is greatly inspired by polystylism, spirituality, esotericism, technology videogames and art. He is one of the founders of BuwanBuwan Collective, an electronic artist community, production and record label focused on cultivating, the Philippine Beat Scene along with its intersections.
