In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Abdulgaffar Olawale Arikewuyo

Abdulgaffar was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He obtained his BSc. and MSc in Mass Communication at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and currently a Ph.D. candidate in Communication and Media Studies at the Eastern Mediterranean University. He is a public speaker, an academic and a professional media practitioner. He has also been privileged to train several communication experts in the field of Broadcasting and Journalism. He generally researches on Communication Psychology, Interpersonal Communication, Romantic Relationships, Sexual Communication and Gratification, and Family Relations. His research focuses on communication patterns individuals in intimate relationships as well as how communication apparatus such as mainstream and social media affects relationships, with emphases on how social media platforms facilitates (i) satisfaction and (ii) dissatisfaction in romantic relationships. Abdulgaffar enjoys listening to radio, playing badminton and traveling.

Anselem Irechukwu Nkoro

A Nigerian, Computer science graduate, 3D artist, Senior Instructor at the Visual arts and visual communication department and a youtuber. Anselem Nkoro holds a bachelor and masters graduate from the department of visual arts and visual communication design at the Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus, an associate graduate member of the Nigerian Institute of Managers, a Higher & National Diploma graduate of computer science from the department of computer science, Abia State Polytechnic, Nigeria, a graduate member of the computer professionals of Nigeria. He is a Media Content Creator, Educator, Programming and Technology Enthusiast, Social Researcher and an experienced 2D and 3D artist with a strong research, project and skill-based background that has been demonstrated and developed over the years. He’s presently a senior instructor at the Eastern Mediterranean University.

Bilkisu Labaran

Bilkisu is an Editor at the BBC World Service in London. Her current role is Nigeria Editorial Lead to establish 3 new BBC language services – Pidgin, Yoruba and Igbo. She is also the pioneer editor of the BBC bureau in Abuja. She has had an illustrious career as a highly accomplished international multimedia journalist, working in radio, on TV and online. She played a key role in launching the popular Focus on Africa TV programme. Bilkisu has worked in various roles in journalism including as a presenter interviewing several high profile personalities including presidents and prime ministers. Bilkisu is widely travelled across Africa and globally. She has covered major global events for the BBC including the 2008 US Obama elections, Hong Kong handover to China; the Beijing Women’s conference and the lead up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. She holds a Master’s degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and has won several awards for academic excellence.
