Speakers will deliver inspiring talks on subjects close to their hearts:
1) Exploring new technologies, such as AI and Nuclear energy. Can technology solve all of the world’s problems? Can the use of humour and lateral thinking debunk well-established scientific assumptions?
Why: Our school has a strong focus on the sciences and our students are confident when demonstrating their knowledge. In addition they delight at finding new approaches to challenging conventional knowledge.
2) Considering the impact our modern lifestyles are having on both us as individuals and society. Encouraging young people to speak out on difficult issues such as depression and body image. Exploring how to developed a positive attitude.
Why: At this time in their lives, our students spend a lot of time contemplating their place in the world. This task has been complicated by our new reality, where students spend an increasing amount of time communicating via mediated technology.
3) Understanding our natural world, it’s importance and ways in which we can build a sustainable future. For example, what role can zoo’s, and Safari Parks play, do they help or hinder the natural world.
Why: EBICA is an Eco-School, recognising it’s responsibility to deliver high quality education in an environmentally sustainable way. This topic aligns with the schools objective and all students participate in this discussion.
