In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amy Wetherby

Dr. Amy Wetherby is a Distinguished Research Professor and an internationally renowned autism researcher who directs the FSU Autism Institute in the FSU College of Medicine. She has supported children and families in her research on the early detection of autism and improving access to care and education. Dr. Wetherby and her team have developed innovative online resources that are important for all families to learn the milestones that matter most matter most — the ones that come before children learn to talk — and what autism looks like long before it is usually diagnosed.

Diego Corzo

Diego Corzo is a 28 year old Forbes-Featured entrepreneur and DACA recipient. Diego was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the United States with his family when he was 9 years old. Diego’s parent told him that the United States was the land of opportunity and that with hard work and determination all his dreams will be possible. Diego graduated top 1% from Florida State University with 2 bachelor degrees in less than 4 years. He started working in corporate America as a software developer for General Motors and soon discovered that he wanted a career shift to Real Estate. Now, Diego is a realtor for Keller Williams alongside an incredible team, and employs American citizens. Also, he currently owns 12 rentals properties, both in Texas and in Florida. Diego is on a path to financial freedom and aspires to help others, especially millennials, become financially free and reach their full potential.

Erica Averion, a communication and strategy professional with 10 years of experience that spans start-ups, the private sector, public space, nonprofit arena, the criminal justice system, healthcare, and media world. Fabrice Guerrier

Fabrice Guerrier is a proud Florida State University alum, he graduated with a B.S. in International Affairs and Leadership Studies certificate and has a M.A. in Conflict transformation from Eastern Mennonite University. He is the Co-Founder & CEO of Syllble (pronounced Syll-a-ble), a startup that produces and publishes original content by supporting talented creative writers from all over the world to hack their fullest creative potential through collaboration and crowdsourcing. Fabrice js a member of the Spring 2019 202Creates Residency, a program led by Government of the District of Columbia’s Office of Cable Television, Film, Music & Entertainment and Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. He is a 2018 Gabr Fellow, a 2016 PEN Haiti Fellow, a Senior Fellow at Humanity in Action and was President of the Board of Managers at Coming to the Table, a national racial reconciliation organization in the U.S that works to address the legacies of U.S. Slavery. Fabrice currently works as an Assistant to a Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. State Department and has co-authored 'The Wall' (2017) a futuristic Scifi novel and recently published his debut poetry collection “Egypt in a Cup of Tea” (2018).

Jill Pable

Jill Pable is a professor in the Interior Architecture & Design Department at Florida State University. Her research focuses on the design of environments for the disadvantaged and she facilitates Design Resources for Homelessness, a non-profit resource for architectural designers and organizations creating environments that help people exit homelessness. These ideas have been featured in FastCompany, the Conversation, the Independent in the UK, KCRW Public Radio, Los Angeles and KQED Public Radio, San Francisco. She believes that design can make life more interesting, fulfilling and humane.

Savannah Grant

Savannah is senior at Florida State University graduating from the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy with B.S. degrees in Political Science and International Affairs and a minor in Economics. She serves in student government, belongs to several student organizations, and is active in scholar associations. Through her research on sustainable development in developing countries and different roles in volunteering with veteran organizations she has become passionate about helping people find their sense of purpose and the motivation to achieve it. She will be speaking on how we all can individually align our lives with a sense of purpose and help others find their way to success.

Sonia Cabell

Dr. Cabell is Assistant Professor in the School of Teacher Education and the Florida Center for Reading Research. Her work examines how to strengthen children's language and literacy skills during the preschool and early elementary years. She is the Principal Investigator of a $3.3 M grant from the Institute of Education Sciences to study the impact of an early reading curriculum on children's vocabulary, knowledge, and reading skills. Dr. Cabell has also developed early childhood literacy curricula, including an early writing curricular supplement for kindergarteners and a preschool curricular supplement with school and home components. She is also the author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications and a book for teachers.

Tiffany Rhynard

Tiffany Rhynard is a dancer, filmmaker and educator compelled to make work that examines human behavior within the frame of current social justice issues. Currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Dance at FSU, Rhynard’s research focuses on the intersection of technology and social dance practices, and how these systems can enhance human empathy. Rhynard’s award winning documentary, Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America, received a 2018 Television Academy Honor for its airing on LogoTV in partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Forbidden was awarded the first ever Social Justice Film Award from the Southern Poverty Law Center, received the Freedom Award from Outfest Film Festival, and was featured on American Airlines as part of their summer 2017 Pride campaign for LGBTQ advocacy. A cross-disciplinary artist, Rhynard has worked with esteemed collaborators including choreographer Christal Brown, internationally renowned composer Lei Liang, real-time digital media artist Marlon Barrios Solano, and mezzo-soprano Sahoko Sato Timpone.

Vicky Potter

Victoria “Vicky” Potter is a sophomore in the Honors College at FSU, majoring in Neuroscience. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and is a first generation American. She is a part of two student groups on campus: RENEW (Realizing Everyone’s Need for Emotional Wellness), a peer education group organized to teach students how to deal with stress and time management, and Phi Delta Epsilon, the only medical fraternity on campus that fundraises for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Vicky is also certified as an EMT in three states and works as an Emergency Room Technician at Capital Regional Medical Center. Next semester, you can find her teaching the Honors class of 2023 as a 2019 Honors Colloquium Leader.
