TEDxLondonBusinessSchool is one of the premier innovation and thought-leadership events in London, run by students of London Business School. Every year, LBS welcomes world leaders in business, technology, science and the arts to share their Ideas Worth Spreading.

This year’s event will be held on Friday 3rd May 2019 with the theme Order & Chaos. In today’s changing world we seek to understand the turmoil and confusion around us and what the new structures of authority and command mean for individuals and society. Through their stories, our speakers will explore Order & Chaos in their own lives and the world around us.

Andi Frkovich

Andi is currently a first-year MBA student at London Business School. Prior to starting her MBA, Andi served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy. She spent her first two years as a Division Officer onboard a Guided Missile Cruiser, where she led cross-functional teams in executing diverse missions at sea. She then served as a Platoon Commander for a Coastal Riverine Security Squadron, where she led security escorts of shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf. Andi holds a BA in Arabic Language from Duke University and an M. Phil in Politics from the University of Cambridge.

Diane Ashiru-Oredope

Dr Diane Ashiru-Oredope is the Lead Pharmacist for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Stewardship at Public Health England and has both researched and started initiatives to combat antimicrobial resistance at home and world-wide.

Eliot Sherman

Dr. Eliot Sherman is an assistant professor at London Business School. His research focuses on gender inequality in the workplace, with an emphasis on testing plausible organizational solutions. His work has appeared, or is forthcoming, in the American Journal of Sociology, Organization Science, and Management Science. He is actively seeking firms with which to collaborate on research.

Gah-Yi Ban

Gah-Yi Ban is a professor of Management Science and Operations at London Business School. Her research is in Big Data analytics; in particular algorithmic decision-making with complex, high-dimensional and highly uncertain data. Gah-Yi has published some of the most-read papers in her field, which are widely recognized for leading the integration of decision analytics with machine learning. Gah-Yi has given numerous talks at universities and conferences around the world, is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network, and has worked with various companies from technology start-ups to financial services.

Joana Cook

Dr Joana Cook is a Senior Research Fellow at the International Center for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) at King’s College London. Dr. Cook holds a PhD from the Department of War Studies, which examined women in relation to post-9/11 international U.S. counterterrorism responses. Her research focuses on women in violent extremism, countering violent extremism, and counter-terrorism practices. She has presented her research to senior government and security audiences in a number of countries.

Jorge Cervera Hauser

Jorge Cervera Hauser is an underwater photographer and the founder of Pelagic Fleet, an adventure travel company committed to exploring and protecting the ocean. In 2014, after producing the award-winning documentary México Pelágico, he decided to commit 100% to the ocean. Jorge has been an ambassador for Discovery Channel, Nauticam, and the Outdoor Journal.

From the seaside town of Southend-on-Sea, LONGY brings a mix of gut-wrenching and carefully crafted lyrics to his own genre of music, ‘Gospel Trash’. LONGY has a soulful and authentic sound that is typically built around a blues structure just either side of the pentatonic scale. His latest offering, ’The iLLUSIONIST,’ released after a year on the road, includes tales of social media, reality television, and his commitment to never giving up on your dreams and ideals.

Lucy Popescu

Lucy Popescu is a writer and editor with a background in human rights. She worked with the English Centre of PEN, the international association of writers, for over 20 years and is a volunteer writing mentor for refugees at Freedom from Torture.

Matty Dixon

Matty is a chartered mechanical engineer with nine years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His experience ranges from technical delivery of mechanical equipment through to management and finished with work in decommissioning before he left the sector. He is now completing his MBA at London Business School and will graduate in July 2019.

Nikhil Sachdeva

Nikhil trained as an Aerospace Engineer at Imperial College London, starting his career as an engineer at Rolls-Royce. After two years at Rolls he accepted a place on the Harvard MBA, where he was CFO of the Aerospace and Aviation club, before going on to work for Roland Berger as a senior consultant. Nikhil advises clients in the Aerospace, Automotive and Energy industries, with a focus on corporate strategy and commercial due diligence.

Niro Sivanathan

Dr Niro Sivanathan is an Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour at LBS, where he speaks, teaches and consults on topics of influence, negotiations and decision-making. His research, published in top Science, Management and Psychology journals, explores how our psychological experience with status and power influences our judgements, decisions and behaviour.

Pier Vittorio Mannucci

Dr Pier Vittorio Mannucci is an assistant professor at London Business School. His research focuses on how to make every employee creative, and on how individuals and categories that are usually depicted as less creative are just the victims of stereotyping and/or inappropriate stimuli. He has published research in top academic journals on how individuals can be consistently creative over time, and on the effects of social networks and technology and on individual and team creativity.

Robert Lechler

Robert Lechler is the current Vice-Principal and Executive Director of King’s College London’s Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre. Robert began his career in academic medicine in the Department of Immunology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and has followed a distinguished career.

Susan Moore

Susan Moore is Associate Editor of Apollo. An art historian, art critic and saleroom columnist, she also writes regularly for the Financial Times and founded the not-for-profit Slow Art Workshop in 2017.
