The driving force behind us is the incessant intellectual curiosity of the mind coupled with the ingenious spirit of innovation. TEDxSIBMBengaluru has witnessed transformation throughout the years. We have set precedence for some of the great talks and great thinkers.

We have crawled through the past, to walk the present and are racing towards the unseen. Humanity is in the midst of an evolution. Human curiosity and unpredictability are radically transforming the world around us. Deep within us, the basic instincts – our dreams, our hopes, our ambitions, our fears and joys – remain a figment of the future, unless shaken and stirred up by the thoughts and actions of those around us, moving us towards the next revolution.

These instincts are always lurking beneath the surface, ever-ready for a trigger, to move in the direction of our choice.

Alisha Abdullah

Professional bike and car racer

India’s first professional female national racing champion - Alisha Abdullah, has made a mark for herself on the racetrack and is one of the most popular racers in the country. She became the first Indian woman to get a podium finish in the international motorsport competition – Toyota Vios Cup in the year 2014 in Thailand.She has also started a racing academy, Alisha Abdullah Academy for Women, to groom youngsters for the future.

Anand Neelankantan

Author

Anand Neelakantan is a reputed Indian author who has authored five books , largely related to mythology, with the most recent one being “Vanara". Anand’s “Asura” which sees Ramayana from Ravan’s point of view, is one of the recommended books in Amazon’s “Top 100 books to be read in a lifetime”. He is known for his unique way of storytelling in the mythology genre.

Chandra Bhushan

Environmentalist

Chandra Bhushan is an environmentalist with a wide range of research and advocacy experiences in issues ranging from climate change to global environmental treaties. For over two decades, he has worked passionately to promote an environmentally sound and socially inclusive development.Mr. Bhushan is currently the Deputy Director General of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), one of world’s leading environmental organisations. He is also a consulting Editor for ‘Down to Earth’ magazine, and columnist for the Financial Express. He has authored/co-authored more than 60 books and reports on a wide-array of environment and development issues.

Diskit Angmo

Professional Ice Hockey player

Diskit Angmo belongs to the first generation of female Ice Hockey players in the country. Diskit hails from Ladakh and has overcome the challenges caused due to the lack of infrastructure and other resources .The team secured their historic international win in 2017 in the Challenge Cup of Asia.

Dr. Soumitra Pathare

Consultant Psychatrist + Director of Centre for Mental Health Law and Policy

Dr. Soumithra Pathare was a member of the Mental Health Policy Group appointed by the Government of India to draft India’s first National Mental Health Policy released in 2014 and also played a pivotal role in drafting the new Mental Health Care Act 2017, which takes a rights-based approach to mental health care and provides for publicly funded universal mental health care. He has served as a WHO consultant in many low and middle-income countries. Dr. Pathare is currently involved in scaling up Atmiyata, a project to improve access to mental health services in rural areas.

Harshit Agrawal

New Media Artist and Human Computer Interaction Researcher

Harshit Agrawal, with his knowledge of machine learning, is enabling machines to recognize and learn from human cues. An Alumni of MIT Media Lab and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, Harshit Agrawal has exhibited his work at premier art venues across the world. He is one of the first Indian artists to have envisioned the collaboration of AI and arts and is the only one to have displayed his artwork at India’s first international AI art show in New Delhi recently.

Mylswamy Annadurai

Aerospace engineer + Scientist

Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, known as the ‘Moon Man of India’, is an Indian aerospace engineer whose career with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) spans a glorious 36 years. The former director of ISRO’s U R Rao Satellite Centre, Dr. Annadurai made the most crucial contribution to the realisation of India's first Lunar Mission, Chandrayaan-1. His other major contribution is the accomplishment of the successful Mars Orbiter Mission in record time. Dr. Annadurai’s vision paved a path for future Indian planetary missions and brought together international organisations like NASA, ESA, JAXA to work under the leadership of ISRO.

Samir Soni

Film actor

Samir Soni is an Indian film/television actor and model. He made his mark in Doordarshan's A Mouthful of Sky in 1996 and debuted as a writer and director in 2018 with the movie My Birthday Song. He has also won the best actor award at the Indian Television Academy Awards for his role in the movie 'Parichay'. His unorthodox roles in movies and television, has set him apart in the field of acting and Bollywood. He has seamlessly mastered the art of playing unconventional characters on screen. A multifaceted personality, Samir has evolved with the ever changing media space over the years.

Sunil Gogia

Spray painting artist

Sunil Gogia, aka ‘Aerosolgrafia’, is a self-taught spray painting artist. He has worked tirelessly acquainting himself with the innumerable uses of spray cans and has been creating art with it. A first to practice and promote the art of spray painting in India, he has also been teaching this art style at various universities in the country. His work has been covered extensively by major media houses of the country on various occasions. He has also showcased his talent across various art festivals across the globe, along with several exhibitions in India

Uddhab Bharali

Grassroots innovator

Dr. Uddhab Bharali , popularly known as ‘The Machine Man’, is a grassroots innovator from Assam. An innovator par excellence, Dr. Bharali completed his 150th innovation on January 25,2019. Known for his ingenious contraptions, Uddhab Bharali’s motto is helping others and making daily mundane tasks easier. Most of his innovations are low cost, use locally available raw materials and help people from all walks of life, from farmers to the differently-abled. Bharali currently runs UKB Agrotech in his hometown in Lakhimpur, a machine design and research centre.

Vartika Joshi

Lieutenant Commander

Lieutenant Commander, Vartika Joshi, sailed into history as the first Indian woman to lead an all women crew in a daring expedition to sail around the world with INSV Tarini, as a part of the country’s ‘Nari Shakti Mission’. Vartika joined the Indian Navy as a Naval Architect in 2010. It was her passion for the oceans that took her on several sea voyages including a transatlantic expedition from Rio de Janeiro to Cape Town in 2014. She was awarded the Chief of Naval Staff Commendations in 2014 and 2016 for being the first woman officer to undergo a transatlantic voyage and successfully leading an all-female crew during their first ever independent open ocean voyage from Goa to Mauritius and back respectively.
