Theme: Diversity

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Marketing Specialist

Cait is an award winning marketing specialist and podcaster with experience working with celebrities, musicians, artists, and large companies. She works full-time at ICS Creative Agency in Saint John and runs her own business, Cait Milberry Marketing + Communications. She is also the co-founder of a music content and podcast platform called Strange Grooves.

Dima Abou Chaaban

Neuroscience Minor + Self Care Activist

Dima is a 2017 graduate from UNBSJ with a major in psychology and minor in cognitive neuroscience. She has a goal of becoming a counseling therapist as mental health is an area she is very passionate about. Dima is excited to share her thoughts and ideas on burnout, importance of self-care, and more importantly the role neuroscience plays in self-care.

Jill Corey

Marine Biology Major

Jill is entering her final year at UNBSJ in marine biology. She has always had a love for the water, and has participated in an internship at the Bottlenose Dolphin Research Institute in O’Grove Spain, worked for Island Quest Marine (whale watching) in Saint Andrews, and completed a second internship with humpback whales and high-rises in Gold Coast Australia. After her degree, she plans to return to Australia to attend Griffith University to complete a Masters.

She is a high performance equestrian athlete, blogger, and author. She is working towards creating a more socially talked about space for people suffering with chronic pain.

From a life-long passion for Canadian inventors and technology, Professor Mark Rector has been inspiring his college students for 18 years with his tales of great Canadian inventors. He now speaks across the country and writing about Our Home and Inventive Land! His talk will include many of the intriguing stories, poingiant tales, and the truly wonderful spirit of Canadian ingenuity.

A wellness enthusiast, personal trainer, entrepreneur, model, actor, writer, speaker, leadership consultant, budding life coach, Nasiyr is an obstinate believer that we all have a responsibility to present our true selves to this world. Although he is not new to public speaking, he is very excited to add TEDxUNBSaintJohn to his repertoire.

Born in Havana City, he has lived in three different countries which has allowed him to appreciate the role culture and ideas play in shaping our norms and behaviours.
