Theme: Turning Tides

TEDxYouth@SAS Turning Tides 2019 will be a night filled with delicious food, amazing stories from Singapore American School student speakers, and thought-provoking ideas on January 17th from 4:15 pm-8:00 pm. In previous years, we have had to limit the event to a 100-person audience, but starting this year we can accommodate more with our 100+ license. Twenty eighteen has been a year of rapid change from the #metoo movement to political upheaval. TEDxYouth@SAS is excited to share the essence of change through innovative talks centered on cultural, technological and societal tide-turning ideas.

Carlos (Cal) Galicia

Grade 10 Singapore American School Student

Cal is an avid photographer who wants to be a lmmaker when he grows up. His favorite movie is ‘La La Land’. He runs a photography Instagram page that he hasn’t told anyone about— good luck nding it!

Ethan Thorpe

Grade 11 Singapore American School Student

Ethan is a native of Madison, Connecticut. This is his second year at SAS. When he’s not dedicating his time to school, you can nd him playing varsity football.

Evelyn was born in Colorado but has been at SAS since kindergarten. Ever since she was young, she’s been an adamant foodie and a passionate cellist.

Grant is a native of Chico, California, and has experienced rsthand the di culties of ying from small towns. He is a Boy Scout who participates in MUN and plays the violin.

Rohit is a passionate robotics captain who spends his time writing books about robotics, maintaining his political blog, debating, reading history, and even writing poetry.

For most of her life, Simran has called Mumbai, India home. She moved to SAS two years ago. In her spare time, she writes, and participates on SAS’ impromptu speaking team.
