Theme: A positive slope

They say growth never comes by chance, it is a result of forces working together. So with TEDxNITSilchar we are aiming to bring forth some of these agents of growth who through their continuous efforts and conviction have brought prosperity to the country and the world at large. NIT Silchar, the venue for the event, is a premier technical college of the region and through its constant efforts it has been able to produce an array of dynamic individuals for this country. The theme for the event is : "A positive slope", which can generally be related to the curve of an increasing function. The event will feature professionals from various dimensions such as art and culture, technology, medical science etc. So mainly we are targeting growth, prosperity and development and the agents who through their outstanding work have been successful in bringing that positive slope to the dynamics of this world.

Alankrita Sahai

Actress

Alankrita Sahai is an Indian model-turned-actor and beauty pageant title holder who was crowned as Miss India Earth 2014. She is the first Indian to win 7 titles at the Miss Earth pageant held in the Philippines. In 2018, she made her acting debut with the Netflix romantic comedy film called Love per Square Foot. The same year, she also played the role of Alisha in the film Namaste England. She also owns a Women's Football Team with Adidas, supporting the Cause for Women Empowerment.

Arun Dohle

Child Rights Activist

Arun Dohle, a reknowned adoption activist is the co-founder of NGO Against Child Trafficking (ACT). An adoptee himself, he had to fight for an astonishing 17 years to access original records pertaining to his biological mother. Arun, a financial consultant, began his search for his roots in his mid-twenties, but all his requests to obtain his adoption documents were thwarted by the orphanage. After a lot of strugle Arun finally managed to find his biological mother after 17 struggling years!

Dr.R.Ravi Kannan

Doctor

Dr. Kannan is a surgical oncologist who was earlier heading department of Surgical Oncology in the prestigious Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai. He was moved by the plight of economically impoverished people who had no access to even basic cancer treatment. Relinquishing monetary accolades, he chose to dedicate his services to the Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Silchar, Assam.

Besides this he has served as a management consultant and has spoken and conducted enrichment workshops at Fortune 100 Businesses, Luxury Cruises, Colleges, Universities, Schools, Non-profits, Start-ups, Hospitals, Shelters and Places of worship.He was recently awarded and recognised as the 101 Top Global Coaching Leaders by the World HRD Congress.His mission is to inspire people globally to leverage on happiness to boost their resilience, engagement, creative innovation and kindness.

Payal Gupta

Food Stylist

Payal Gupta is a chef and one of the top food stylist in India today. Apart from being a food stylist she is also a floral designer. She started off as a qualitative researcher in Mumbai in 2004. In July 2007, she quit her job and took a sabbatical for 7 months to understand what she really wanted to do in her life. Concluding from there, she realized that her passion thrived in the union of food and art. And thus alas, she figured out what she would take up- ‘Food Styling’.Over the years Chef Payal has had the opportunity to polish her skills in the world of food and business by educating herself across premier institutes in India and overseas such as Le Cordon Bleu, IIM Bangalore etc. Today Payal is indeed one of the celebrated food stylists of India

Ritabhari Chakraborty

An epitome of beauty and a cauldron of talent, Ritabhari Chakraborty is a prominent name in the television and film industry. Having started with modelling in class 9, she made her first appearance in television after her 10th boards as the female protagonist of the popular Indian Bengali television serial Ogo Bodhu Sundari; and there was no looking back! In 2011, she made her big screen debut in "Once upon a time in Kolkata", and many more movies thereafter. A couple of years ago, she featured in a music video called ‘ Orrey Mon ’ alongside Ayushmann Khurrana which has more than 16 million views on YouTube.Early in 2017 - Ritabhari was seen in a short film with Kalki Koechlin titled “Naked” which was in fact penned and produced by her through her own production company SCUD.
