In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Caroline Wawzonek

Caroline Wawzonek is the recent recipient of a 2017 national Lexpert Award celebrating Women in the Law and the 2015 Law Society of the NWT and Canadian Bar Association NWT’s joint President’s Award. A litigator for over 12 years, Caroline was on the NWT steering committees that guided the development of our Wellness Court and the Domestic Violence Treatment Option Court.

Christina Dawn Monroe

Christina is an active volunteer and teaches workshops, mentors women candidates and their teams on effective data collection, get out the vote and social media strategy.

Christine Lewandowski-Shannon

Christine has lived and worked in Northern Canada for 15 years, working in both the private sector and in education. She is an Early Childhood college instructor for Aurora College, a mother of two boisterous beautiful children and a yoga and mindfulness practitioner. Christine is incredibly passionate about wellbeing and recently started her own business HolisticERA, offering wellness educational services to children, adults and educators.

France Benoit

France is a policy advisor turned filmmaker turned foodie who then decided to become a farmer.

Linda Bussey

Linda was born in Quebec in 1959; 33 years later she moved North, a place she still calls home. Linda first moved to Iqaluit with her young family and immediately immersed herself in the community. She moved to Yellowknife in 1996 with her three children and once again became immersed in her community. She was school board trustee, speed skating official, member of the NWT Wellness Committee, and lately completing 2 terms as a City Councillor. Linda worked for several years with the GNWT, mostly in Human Resources as a recruitment and retention consultant and manager, before realizing she was more interested in Non-Government Organizations. She was Executive Director of the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation and today is the Director General of the Federation Franco-Ténoise.

Shania Clark

Shania was born and raised in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and is an indigenous woman from the Dog Rib Rae band. She is a currently in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Aurora College. She has a deep passion for mental health that stems from personal experience and seeing others around her struggle with mental health and addictions. Shania does most of her advocacy and volunteer work with the Canadian charity Jack.org, and is involved in a variety of their programming.

Stacie Smith

Stacie Smith is a born and raised Yellowknifer. She is an entrepreneur, a politician, a mom, a wife, and a proud indigenous woman.

Stephanie Vandeputte

Originally from Belgium, Stephanie holds an MBA from the University of Antwerp and kicked off her career in the for-profit sector. Since making her way north to Yellowknife, Stephanie has ventured into the non-profit sector as Career Centre Manager for CDETNO, before joining the City of Yellowknife.

Stephanie's expereinces in working with the territorial government are counterbalanced by her love of travel. adeventure and connection.

Susan Fitzky

Susan Fitzky came to the North (from her birthplace of Prince Edward Island) almost a decade ago. She is a social worker whose latest endeavours have been in adult learning, social work education and child welfare transformation.

Suzanne Robinson

Dr. Suzanne Robinson has made her home in the North for over two decades. She recently completed her interdisciplinary PhD in Sociology while teaching and researching in the North. As an Aurora College instructor since 2000, she has taught in the Aboriginal Language and Culture Instructor Program, the Teacher Education Program and is currently teaching in the Developmental Studies program. She and her partner are also very busy chasing and raising her little Northerners.
