Theme: Beyond the Conversation

TEDx BITS Hyderabad presents its 5th edition of a TEDx conference on 3rd February, 2019. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Beyond the conversation’ and we will have 8 speakers from all facets of life would share their experiences within the span of 18 minutes. The event would be set with the purpose of building a community with other attendees and networking with the speakers.

Indian Women Kabaddi Team Captain

The Queen of Kabaddi, Abhilasha Mhatre hails from the heart of Mumbai and is a walking hall of fame who has won numerous accolades and brought glory to the Indian sporting scene. An Arjuna Awardee, Asian Games Gold Medalist, Kabbadi World Cup Winner and an icon of feminism amongst other things, the honors just keep on increasing as the years roll for the current captain of the Indian Kabbadi Team. From the heart of Mumbai to being one of the best players of Women's Kabaddi, to being excessively injured and bouncing back to achieving greater heights by winning some of her best awards in her field, Abhilasha Mhatre has made one great stride after another amidst setbacks. The current Kabaddi Captain stands to prove that determination is key for any sport and life.

Chunky Vazirani

India's First Hypercar Founder

Chunky Vazirani, the man behind 'Shul', India's first hypercar. Ever since his childhood, cars fascinated him and he wanted to know more and more about them. He found Vazirani Automotive in 2015 with the aim of building a turbine electric hypercar in India. Over the years, with a lot of hardwork, he succeeded in his task. The Shul was showcased for the first time at the Michelin stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. He is an inspiration to young minds and a motivation for everyone to think out of the box, undoubtedly, his talk has a lot to offer for everyone.

Graduating amongst one of the top of his class at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, there was little doubt what the then-focused young man would do in the years to come. Spanning a career of nearly three decades, the rise of a fresh inductee into the 63th Cavalry unit to a Lieutenant General of the Indian Army and a Param Vishisht Seva Awardee encompasses the story of a man who rose to the top by his own grit and hard work. Here's to countless men who keep us safe through their work and here's to one of their esteemed leaders, Lt Gn. KJ SINGH.

Youngest Female F4 Racer

Born and raised in Vadodara, Mira is the first Indian Female to drive the BMW series in India and has had a shining motorsports career which has seen her participate in events like Formula 4 and the Euro JK Series, one of the highest classes of formula racing in India, amongst others. The wonder kid of Indian Motorsports began her career at the age of 9 years old and is the new poster kid of the rising paradigm of Indian Motorsports. In a matter of just 8 years, she has participated in more than 80 races and is the only and youngest girl to have participated at national and international level in Karting and Formula 4.

Prior to Stockroom, he was COO at Inc42, a leading Indian startup magazine. It is heart warming to see a fellow BITSian touching the sky and working so hard to fulfill his dreams.

Art in any form is valuable, but the value amplifies when it depicts a story, spreads a message. Nitish Bharti, an amazing sand artist, believes in channeling his artistic vision to create something that could influence people towards betterment. While transitioning from a tutor in coaching classes to the spectacular artist he is today, he must have seen many ups and downs. He was a finalists of India's Got Talent 2012 and has performed on various National and International platforms including Asia's Got Talent. Everytime he goes on stage, he leaves everyone stunned with his creativity. We are eager to let him unravel the details of his journey and see him spilling his magic with sand! Let us all relish this love for art par excellence and delve into the psych of a modern day artist.

She started as a VJ on MTV and then finally made her Bollywood debut in "Mere Dad Ki Maruti". She has been the centre of limelight since the starting of her career and that is truly justified as she has some outstanding set of skills. Her hardwork and passion is really extraordinary. She is loved by many people, appreciated by all. It would be an amazing experience to hear her side of the story and we are sure, we all will be left mesmerized.

Shramona Poddar, a 25 year old, likes to identify herself as a part-time traveller and a full-time dreamer, she spends most of her time eating, doodling, travelling, dreaming and storytelling. She strongly believes in living in the moment and wishes to travel as much as she can ‘because you never know when one might die’, says the young traveller. A dog and kid lover, she still finds it tough in deciding what she loves more, the mountains or the sea? She's here on 3rd February to tell us about her inspiring but extremely hard journey and what it takes to break stereotypes and get out of the house!

This was possible due to the ingenious concept of hyperlocal delivery which powers the Swiggy machinery. This very concept makes Swiggy according to us, a concept beyond the conversation.
