An idea can blossom into something that can bring unspeakable joy or misery to millions. Every human endeavour no matter how small or great began with a simple idea. This philosophy is at the heart of TED whose mission is to spread ‘ideas worth spreading’ to the masses. We aim to create a platform where people can share and express ideas and reflect positive changes in themselves and on the society as a whole.

TEDxCovelong was held on 6th April 2019 with the theme "Ride the Wave". Experience the amalgamation of ideas, experiences and nature at the beautiful beach of Covelong, Chennai.

Makeover Expert + Hair Stylist

Samantha Jagan is the founder of Wink, a luxury salon that’s a favourite of those who love experimenting with style. She is also Chennai’s most popular celebrity makeover expert and an inspiration for many. Her trendsetting journey can be traced back to the time when she was drawn to modeling. Soon, she became interested in behind-the-scenes action, and acquired a diploma in hair & skin care & makeup at Pivot Point International Institute. She began her career as a trainer in hair design, skincare and makeup at Pivot Point. Then, she moved on to the role of lead hair consultant, hair replacement stylist and hair extension expert at White Cliffs Studio, Chennai. Samantha’s next big role was that of a makeover specialist, senior hairstylist and aesthetician at Page 3, Chennai.

Sandhya Shekhar

Dr. Sandhya Shekhar works in the area of Strategy and research based advisory services. She has about three decades of professional experience, occupying various C-level positions in the last two decades She has worked at the confluence of industry and academic fraternities helping to build innovation ecosystems, in her former role as the first CEO of IIT Madras Research Park. She has extensive industry experience, having worked as Director, Asia Pacific Consulting – Gartner Inc.; CTO - BconnectB.com; Head, Knowledge Management Research - Aptech; and Group Consultant - NIIT. An alumna of IIM Bangalore and IIT Madras, her dissertation won the outstanding doctoral research award from the European Foundation for Management Development and Emerald. An author of several books, papers and articles, her book on Knowledge Management was the first Indian book on the subject.

Satyam Mishra

Satyam Mishra is a National Consultant for Secondary Grades with Teach for India. He is also the first Indian to be invited to teach in the Malala School for the Syrian Refugee Girls in the Bekka Valley, Lebanon. He is essentially a passionate teacher, who has been working towards reshaping the relationship between a teacher and student so as to make education more innovative and interesting. As a part of Teach for India he has worked towards helping students to learn mathematics in more innovative ways. His approach and ideas like ABCD-M (Anybody Can Do Math) got recognized by Teach for India as the ‘Transformational Impact Journey (TIJ) Math Specialist’. He strongly believes that Innovation in math is what changes the very idea of the subject, the way it is perceived improves and the fear/phobia surrounding it vanishes. During his journey of being an educator he has also done internship with IIM Ahmedabad where he was exposed to the difficulties of war-zone education

Sudalai Rajkumar

Data Scientist

Sudalai Rajkumar (aka SRK) is a Data Scientist at H2O.ai Inc. He is responsible for the Natural Language Processing capabilities in Driverless AI, an automated machine learning platform. Prior to this, he was with Freshworks where he worked extensively on the text data. He was also part of Tiger Analytics and Global Analytics early in his career. He has solved a lot of interesting data science problems for various customers across the globe in multiple domains including finance, e-commerce, online advertising, health care, transportation, retail. Apart from his day job, he takes part in various data science competitions to enhance his knowledge and has won several of them. He is a Kaggle Grandmaster in Competitions & Kernels section. He is currently ranked #1 on Analytics Vidhya Machine Learning Hackathon platform as well.
