TEDx Youth @Southlake is an official TEDx Licensed event. Featuring influencers and leaders in areas impacting our Youth and the community. The event will take place on April 27th, in the morning and early afternoon.

Abigail Perez

4th grader, Author, Illustrator, Entrepreneur

Abigail is a 4th grader with a big heart and a creative imagination from Southlake,Texas. She believes every kid has superpowers that they can use to change the world if they discover it and nurture it in a healthy way.To Abigail, superheroes are not fantasy characters because inside each person is a superhero waiting to ignite. As someone who has been personally impacted by bullying at a young age, her mission is to put an end to bullying by being a voice of hope and encouraging others to discover their innate super kid powers. Abigail is very active and involved in her community. She loves playing the piano, the great outdoors, rock climbing, skiing, ice skating, acting, jiu-jitsu, and tennis. In addition to her best selling book, How to Be a Super Kid, she will soon release a Super Kid song and music video that she co-wrote with inspirational pop artist, Brotha James, and an app that includes both an e-store and an augmented reality experience on both iOS and Android.

Annie Rose Cole

YouTuber, Model

Annie Rose, 13, is a productive, busy 7th grade homeschooler who has been posting on YouTube and Instagram now for about four years. She has 780K and 330K followers respectively. She has filmed and edited over 900 videos for three different channels which have over 180 million views combined. She co-owns a media company with her mom, Shona Cole and recently her sister Lily Kate joined the business filming for YouTube and developing a line of products to sell online. In her spare time she is learning to play the ukulele, loves singing, playing piano, doing musical theater and hanging out with her friends and family. Annie Rose wants to spread a happy, positive, optimistic outlook on life with her vlogs, fashion, room decor and lifestyle videos.

Claudia Beeny

Founder and Executive Director of House of Shine, Author

An experienced educator, Claudia holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration, and a Master of Education in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services, from The University of Georgia. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Arizona State University. The seed for House of Shine was planted in 2007, when Claudia started a blog called Highlowaha, in which she shared one creative idea a day, never repeating the same idea twice. Claudia believes that each of us is wired with a unique combination of talents and gifts, and to live a truly fulfilling life, we must discover what they are and how they can best be deployed to make the world a better place. Claudia enjoys helping people find the disconnect in their lives — the space between where they are and where they want to be — and then setting them in motion toward a life that is more rewarding.

Eduardo Rojas

Concert Pianist, Teacher

Colombia’s celebrated classical music star, virtuoso pianist Eduardo Rojas, is renowned for his delicate touch, colorful tone and the deep musicality with which he delivers his powerful, fiery renditions of European and PanAmerican repertoire. His flawless technique, vast knowledge of composition theory and historical background of the works he choses to present, earn him the admiration and respect of fellow musicians and critics while his big heart, courage and humanity win him the love of his audiences. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Eduardo Rojas began taking piano lessons with his father, Eduardo Rojas, at the age of five. At age thirteen he entered the University of Cauca where he completed his studies under the tutelage of Uruguayan pianist Manfred Gerhardt. In 2005 he was awarded a full scholarship to Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Rojas received his Artist Diploma in 2009 and his Master in Piano Performance in 2011.

John Terrell

Vice President of Commercial Development DFW International Airport

John Terrell is a Vice President of Commercial Development and is responsible for the strategic direction in development, acquisition, leasing, property management, and natural gas exploration/production on nearly 18,000 acres of land. He leads the strategic planning , marketing and implementation of business initiatives for commercial land development and redevelopment as well as provides direction and oversight of the airports Land Use Analysis and Land Use Master Planning processes outside the central terminal areas. Mr.Terrell has over 30 years of real estate experience and an extensive background and knowledge in real estate sales, marketing, property management, development, leasing and government relations. Mr.Terrell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He holds an International Airport professional ( IAP) designation. He also served as Mayor for the City of Southlake, Texas for six years.

Monica Kerik
