Mariam Al Dhubhani

Mariam Al-Dhubhani is a Yemeni-Russian journalist and filmmaker. She is currently a senior at Northwestern University in Qatar. Al-Dhubhani co-founded a production named Background Group for Media. Her first short film 'We are the Peace' (2011) received an award in Yemen's first film festival. 'Wishes for the New Year' (2012) was the first chalkboard animation in the Middle East. Her recent film 'Just Another Memory' (2018) is her directorial debut and was produced as part of the Doha Film Institute’s annual Documentary Lab in 2018 which was led by world-renowned Cambodian documentary filmmaker Rithy Panh.
Shakeeb Asrar

Shakeeb Asrar is a graduate of NU-Q who majored in journalism and strategic communication, with minors in Media and Politics and Civic Engagement. He works as a content creator at Qatar Foundation, where his focus includes creative conceptualization of marketing campaigns, development of stories for QF publications, and QF’s brand engagement with international media. Previously, Shakeeb has worked as a journalist at Al Jazeera and USA Today, and has undertaken fellowships at the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting and the South Asian Journalism Association. His interests include covering human stories and creating interactive and visual content.
Susan Dun

At NU-Q, Dun teaches research methods in communication, persuasion and influence, health communication and the internship seminar. She has also taught theories of relational communication, academic success and social support. Dun’s central area of interest is health communication, especially the design of message interventions to encourage healthy behavior. Dun received her PhD in communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1993.
Yassine Ouahrani

Yassine Ouahrani is a communications student with a deep interest in storytelling and cinema. During his four years at Northwestern University in Qatar, Yassine has been active in media production inside and outside the university and completed two granted short narrative films, three short documentaries and additional cinematographic work. With the hopes of telling stories from region and by the people of the region, he is working on developing longer projects that are deeply grounded in today's Arab narrative.
